Restaurants allowing"business" meetings

It’s these loopholes that make the guidelines in a lot of cases a total farce, how can a business meeting in a pub be acceptable and yet meeting a friend or member of your family is the same venue not ? If the business meeting can be conducted without risk as governed by the premises then social meetings can be managed the same, surely ?
Because unless money is changing hands, the government don't deem any form of social interaction to be worth the risk.

I agree but what’s the difference between me and my mates having lunch and a couple of pints and me and my work colleagues having the same under the guise of a business meeting. I don’t get where the additional revenue is coming from ?

Well I suppose they are hoping that people won't meet their friends and disguise it as a business lunch?

I'm not saying its well thought-out by the way, quite the opposite.

I'm guessing it's all about scale unless the rule of 6 is adhered to. Even though, 6 per big table, several tables, who knows, eh?
You're right Atypical- It's poorly thought out.
Some places near me have entered into the spirit of it with cut price tea/coffee bacon sarnies etc, with one person per table.

The business lunch thing isn't poorly thought out, they know what they are doing. It's about letting the 'business class' have their enjoyment while the plebs don't. Business lunches simply aren't necessary any more, if they ever were.

I have no problem with pubs and cafes offering individuals space for working.

if people put as much effort into sticking to the rules rather than circumventing them, we wouldn’t be in this mess in the first place.

When meeting family, I have been known to give them a kiss. I have never done this within a business meeting. No, on reflection there was a lady from accounts, by the photocopier one Christmas. Please just ignore me :)
