The Civic Community Awards returned in 2021 for a third year celebrating local people who have made a difference and nominations can be made up until Saturday, August 14. The last 12 months have seen unwavering community spirit, passion and creativity with extraordinary acts of kindness witnessed from people all over the town.

The 2021 Middlesbrough Civic Community Awards categories are:

  • Citizen of the Year;
  • Covid Hero;
  • Health and Wellbeing Hero;
  • Helping People Learn;
  • Improving Job Opportunities;
  • Improving Our Neighbourhoods;

Nominations in every category are welcome, especially Citizen of the Year and Middlesbrough Children Matter. The Citizen of the Year award recognises someone who's gone the extra mile to help and support others, and who is passionate about making a difference in their community and the new Middlesbrough Children Matter award will recognise a young person (up to age 18) who deserves special appreciation for the unique and valuable contribution they've made to the town, or to other young people in Middlesbrough.

If you know an individual, organisation or business who have made a positive or selfless contribution to the lives of Middlesbrough residents, Middlesbrough Council wants to hear their story. There are lots of heroes in Middlesbrough and we want to celebrate them.

Information on the awards and how to make a nomination can be found on middlesbrough.gov.uk/civicawards. Closing date for nominations is August 14, 2021.
