Remember the mini kits you hung in your car

Used to love these, especially catching a glimpse of a Boro one when on route to an away game, that and the classic scarf across the back window trapped in the boot! Always worth a toot!

I seem to remember at one point they did the mini kits double sided with home one side and away the other. Not sure if I remember this right or not?

Oh I miss scarfs hanging out of car windows👍. Either a Boro one or trying to workout what club it belonged to through a good look at fixtures in the paper (no phones then).

That said it was never wise to leave on the boot tray on an away day. Usually lead to vandilised car (main road area😒)

"Giz uz a few quid to mind yer car Mister"

Roughly translated in the Queen's English as I've clocked that Boro scarf and if you don't pay me off I'm kicking your windows in and nicking your hubcaps.

I had a "car scarf" that went all over with me. The big knot at one end got tighter and tighter and the end that hung out the window got more frayed and shorter with every trip!

Only place I was scared enough to do this was Man City - Moss Side in mid 90s made Blue Hall seem like Mayfair. Metal shutters on nearly every house and what looked like bullet holes in the others. Don't mind admitting I was petrified!

I always remember going to our FA Cup win at Man City in 1997 (the Juninho goal and his aeroplane/run the full length of the pitch to celebrate with the Boro fans).

Coming out of Maine Road after singing about going to Wembley twice ("tell me mam, me mam.... ") you were faced with absolute carnage. Two sets of fans fighting, missiles flying, a Police horse getting buffeted all over the place.

Tried to make a sharp exit and ended up deeper into central Moss Side with all sorts of dodgy characters giving you evil eyes whilst sitting in their front gardens on deckchairs, beer cans in hand, burnt out car smouldering nicely just to the side. Time to start shouting for mummy again.......!

I have an England one in the back of my car (and a Boro sticker, goodness knows what the locals make of them!)
Same here (the Boro sticker anyway), but there are quite a few poms around here, and we used to have holiday makers from the UK in the good old days

Moss side away was definitely a scarf no go area lol.

I remember being hit in the face with a Pepsi can full of p*ss launched from kippax stand. A can in the 'grid' hurt but it was the warm contents that did the most 'damage' lol. So many Boro fans were lead out with cuts from flying coins.

You needed that scarf to protect your eyes😕

Just fingers crossed you had a car to go back too (not that they would have nicked my X reg pea green fiesta 1litre)

Maybe I am blind or naive but Ive never had any problems when I went to Maine Road. Only once felt intimidated at Elland Road.

The wierd thing about Moss Side was the contrasts. After being terrified for the league win, Barmby winner, went back for cup game (Juninho winner) season after and got parked in very posh girls public school. It was (probably still is) one very wierd area!

Mind you in my 4 visits our record was great, 3 wins only 1 defeat

Same here Juno, my experience was in 1975 I think, got beat 4-0!
