Reform led Kent Council taking down flags

Stockton council have stated they may need to ‘move’ some flags too and people are saying it’s ok as long as they put them back in January…
Others are saying they shouldn’t be putting any Xmas decs up anyway… prob same ones twisting that those Christian mince pies don’t have any mention of Xmas on the boxes…

The policy to follow here should be to state that flags have been attached to council property without permission and will be removed but can be reclaimed on proof of ownership.

Come on Shaun lad, you're on!

They seem to be multiplying in Teesside, more through Redcar, Thornaby and shamefully around the riverside.

Is it the same flag shagger putting them up, I noticed the flags in Thornaby and the riverside have the same orange zip ties.

I'm guessing a van is needed to transport the ladders, I wonder if checks have taken place to see if it is a local person.

The fact they are put up in the dead of night is quite sinister, especially the ones through Marske, very close to bedroom windows.

It's sickening that society is just accepting this blatant form of nationalism.

Given that every high street and many others have cameras then these people and their vehicle must be on record.

The pole on the roundabout in Marske that the Union flag is hanging off was erected specifically for cameras FFS. They must have been literally filling the camera's view as they were hanging the flag.

Unless the cameras aren't working or are just fakes of course.

Yup, I'd like some response from councils, they must know something. Running scared from an ultra right minority - sickening.

I noticed the guy on Redcar Lane with 7 flags has two windows smashed. Kind of ironic that after trying to intimidate people maybe it’s his turn to be intimidated.

I suspect not because about 50% or more at the riverside are upside down whereas in Thornaby it’s only about 25% although this could just be a statistical anomaly. I’ve said before if they’re going to take our national flag for other purposes than it was meant then at least show it enough respect to know how it should be flown.

I do wonder (and hope) that the whole flag thing will end up being counter productive to the far right. I think the flags are symbolic of how empty vacuous and one dimensional parties like Reform and their supporters are, and I think that connection will grow the longer the flags are pointlessly left up for.
I think they gambled on it causing a much bigger reaction from people, which they’d be able to use an excuse to cause division and civil unrest. Instead people have largely just viewed the whole thing with contempt, which will hopefully increase.

I mentioned this before, but recently I was stopped at some temporary traffic lights outside the Stapylton Arms. All along the road, the lamp posts and a few houses were flying St George’s flags. Then, right in the middle of them, there was a house with a Pride flag hanging from the window. It genuinely made me smile.
