Reform candidates didn't want to win....

Johnson was a very significant supporter of Vote Leave, very possibly the one that gave it the credibility to tip it over the edge, but to suggest that the vacillating buffoon was ever in a position to be that instrumental in its structure, and to run some Machiavellian sidebar with Farage, is to give him too much credit.

Cummings, perhaps. Although even then I think he was the recipient of good fortune rather than elaborate plotting in this regard. But Johnson’s role in Brexit was just that of a chancer.

Yes, fair comment. Almost certainly not his personal decision, but certainly advised by someone with an ounce of political acumen.

For what it's worth, I don't think there needed to be an sidebar with Farage. They just relied on Farage doing what Farage does.

Not only will they, they have. Reform didn’t win Durham by cornering the residual Tory vote. There basically isn’t one. They won Durham on the back of former Labour voters. Generational Labour voters who feel that the centre right urban elite party it has become offers them nothing. And who are probably right to feel that, even if they are wrong in where they have gone instead.
So these people who don’t like the way Labour has gone right wing to are more centrist policy leaving behind their socialist roots feel that the best place they can transfer their allegiance to is a far right anti immigration (racist) anti welfare state party?
Come on how does that make any sense

I know a lot of older people who'll now be voting Reform, to a person they are racists and blaming most issues on this on "the boats" and hotels.

Just spouting every conspiracy theory going and believing it.

The winter fuel allowance controversy was the tipping point for a lot of them.

"I've always been a staunch socialist, but I'm never voting Labour again" etc.

Quite why they think Farage would be able to solve anything baffles me, but I don't get my news from right wing papers.

Had one of them saying we should be gunning people down in the channel yesterday, which was horrendous.

'Sink The Boats' etc is common place on social media. I often simply ask, how on Earth would Reform stop the boats within a legal frame work? I never get a sensible answer. Even Farage said on his tv interview after the council election that he would 'try to stop the boats'. So he'd do no different from the labour & Tory Parties. Incidentally the deal with the French to patrol their own beaches is still not at full power.

I know someone whose grandad - one of the Middlesbrough ice cream families - had his premises vandalised in WW2. I talked to him about it a few years ago and he shared his disgust that people were treated in such an abominable way. Checked in on his social media site over the weekend and it's full of George flag/foreigners out stuff. People are frightening.

Ensure we have a growing economy and to support the growing older population….they’ll come from China and India instead of Middle East and Africa, but it’s still the same immigration underpins capitalism.

Des Clarke has resigned from his Reform council seat in Newark West division of Nottingham council.
What a difference a week makes eh?

"Significant recent changes to Desmond's personal circumstances have led him to conclude that he is not in a position to deliver the level of service to the people of Newark West that they deserve and require."

Reform, the champions for cutting taxes, identifying and removing financial waste in local government... yet wasting thousands and thousands of pounds by fielding a candidate who has resigned only a week after being elected. Who'd have thunk?!

Massive hypocrites. Great at shouting like parents on the sideline at a schoolboy football match but haven't a clue when they get into the middle.

Hes never been the same since Daphne died

Great analogy.

These councillors are like a dad running onto the pitch to show them how it's done only to immediately fall over the ball and break an ankle.
