Reflections on today's game

Seny Dieng - looked good, saved us on a few occasions
McNair - not good enough at right back - at0 fault for the goal
Coulson - looked out of his depth (why did we let Bola go?)
Barlaser - not a replacement for Jonny
Rogers - looks promising but lacked support
Silvera - looks a handful
Forss - our best striker on the pitch - why not play him through the middle?

We had two 6' 5" strikers on the pitch - you would have thought we would have taken advantage of that, but crosses were wayward and corners short. Rogers was on his own in the box and Crooks too deep.

All in all a disappointing day......we need Howson and Akpom fit asap.

I called it weeks ago, I knew we would struggle this season, we still need around 6 signings. Which is unrealistic. Be a long season this.

Unfortunately we had two tall players on the pitch who are plainly NOT strikers. Crooks has been honest enough to admit it in the past. Carrick bigs him up and "has confidence in him" but the positions he takes up wouldn't show the slightest sign that he can play the role. Rogers might have a position, but as yet it isn't clear what that would be.

And as you said letting Bola go when the alternative is Coulson defies logic.

Well I thought we played well for most of the game. First half was even but we dominated the second only to concede a daft goal. If you are not 100% certain of winning the ball, just hold the man and slow the attack down, just basic defending.
With a bit of luck we could have been 1 up at half time with the ball just out (I think) from Crook's cross.
Plenty of things to be positive about, and hopefully some more players to strengthen in the next few weeks.
