Red Faction - Sunderland (a)

Was anybody else sat near them? If so, what did you think of the way they carry on?

I've managed to swerve being near them on the road, and after yesterday I'm thankful!

Me and our old fella were on the front row of our allocation, the first two seats opposite the aisle to them. Completely uncalled for, anti-social manner. There were about 20/30 of them, every single one of them with a balaclava on covering their faces, screaming in the faces of stewards, completely ignoring their requests to stop standing in the aisles, walkways, no consideration for anyone else around them, not even watching the game.. just trying to causing chaos.

Throughout the game, 2 of them were carted off by police, which was followed by a huge stampede of them pushing stewards and police, shoving anyone around them.

There was a bloke in his 80s in the row behind us with 2 walking sticks who had to sit.. he couldn't see the game for the standing so our dad moved back a row to let him sit in his seat on the front row so he could see.

When that lot were pushing and shoving the stewards when their mates were getting dragged out the old bloke was pushed off his seat to the floor and his sticks went flying.

Bunch of absolute ******* the lot of them.

I was sat in the same block as them but about 10 rows back.

I remember when walking up to my seat they were all being quite aggressive towards stewards etc.

They were all wearing black hoodies with 'Boro Ultras' on the back.

It wasn't a good look at all.

Although they all looked like kids, I can imagine for some fans, they will have been quite intimidating.

Some went home via train too and were trying to push their way through the police/horses on the way to the station.

Obviously some of them need to grow up.

Did they have the drum?

No, they didn't have the drum.

They all had Red Faction scarves wrapped round their faces/necks and 'Ultras Boro' jackets/hoodies on.

When the ones thrown out were being escorted out it was absolutely mayhem.. massive crowd of them surging towards police and stewards swearing and shoving and being abusive.

When the second one was booted out (about 85 minutes) they all left chasing the police/stewards out of the ground harassing them.

The second one was booted out for standing in the main front walkway (literally in front of us).. a steward asked him to go back to his seat about 6 or 7 times.. ignored him 5 times and then shouted '**** off' in the stewards face after which the police dragged him out.

Do you know for certain they were "Red Faction"?
There`s various organised racist groups who dress in black and attend games to provoke.

rf08 are listed on the Middlesbrough Supporters Forum along with other groups.

They have a facebook page:

Contact them or contact the Club to raise concerns and to confirm whether or not it was rf08 as you are alleging.

If this isn't the happy clappy Red Faction then RF shouldn't sell them their costumes.

They would **** themselves if it ever kicked off.
Thankfully it doesn't anymore - they know it - and hence the teenage behaviour yesterday.

Every single one of them had a black hoodie on with 'Ultras Boro' on it and/or a Red Faction scarf.

I did speak to the MFC Head of Stewarding at the end of the game to raise my concerns..not that he needed making aware, he was wrestling with them all afternoon.. it really wasn't a good look for our supporters at all.

I don't know if it was RedFaction to be honest.

All I know is that there was definitely a large group of fans in the first couple of rows, all dressed in black with black hoodies with 'Boro ultras' on the back and they had snoods/baraclavas on covering their faces and wearing black gloves, all being very aggressive towards stewards/police etc.

They were blocking the stairs too.

Might be worth emailing the club then.(y)
Its something I`ve never witnessed at away games with rf08, since they originated in Block53.

They certainly like to undo their decent, hard work at times but like someone else said is it the actual group lads or just idiots wearing their merch - if this is the case, they need to be careful who they're flogging this stuff to.

It'll be reduced to 1k next time, they don't need an excuse.

The majority of the stewards around them were Boro stewards.. but there were Sunderland ones too. The police were from all over.. I saw west midlands badges, Northumbria, Cleveland, South Yorkshire.

The poor Boro steward I was chatting to was getting absolute dogs abuse all game. Called every name under the sun.

I've done so this morning.

Usually let that sort of stuff go over my head but it got to me yesterday.. it was completely uncalled for and spoilt the match experience of a lot of people around us.

Absolute bedlam when you're trying to enjoy the game. It's selfish and inconsiderate behaviour.

Thats pure rubbish and a smear on a well meaning and very successful fan group.
Lets get the facts first.
The comment was not aimed at Red Faction, who I know are a committed group of fans, but to the mindless few who sully the name of our club with behaviour such as described above.
