Billy - you beat me to it.great idea, but haven't they suffered enough???
I was listening to Bob Fisher‘s Wednesday book review show a couple weeks before the lockdown and he had a guy on who owned a bookshop. This guy mentioned if we all spent £5 in our local shops and cafes (not chains) it would add something like £3m to the local economy. That is easy for us all to do and something we should be doing. We all whinge when the corner shop or butchers close but there is something we could do, use them.It is a brilliant idea - am really pleased they have pushed forward on this - I tried to put this idea forward several weeks ago if you remember it was one of several really good ideas my friend Bjarte told me about from Norway. His other big scheme was to organise pub and cafe crawls around his home town and in fact he has since pledged to spend his money on his hometown businesses as much as possible for the next 12 months which will likely mean the end for his Boro season card.
