Recommend me a winter coat

I'm looking for recommendations for a good winter jacket.

I'm after something that is waterproof and warm. I'm not really going into the mountains but I might be walking up Roseberry topping over the moors etc.

Budget maybe up to about £150, I would maybe pay more if its good value for money.

Cheers!

Good range of outdoor outlet shops in Dalton Park off the A19 near Sunderland or nearer to home Go Outdoors,Portrack. +1 for Craghoppers. I have also visited the Barbour outlet shop Jarrow, huge range of outdoor gear excellent savings of very good gear worth a trip.

Patagonia- isthmus jacket. Mind you it depends how warm you are naturally I suppose. In recommend that jacket because I’m usually mafted if I wear anything heavier.

Me and the mrs have fjallraven parkers, they’re great but not cheap. Had going on 3 years now and no issues, but we only bought when heavily discounted and with additional cashback

Send your wife shopping if you can't manage something as simple as buying a coat. Dear god is this what the world has come to. Dressed by proxy😀😭😜

i considered the yupik parka, fjallraven but i can only buy it online and didnt fancy ordering it and then maybe not fitting right,so decided against it,would prefer to try one on ,quite expensive but very good im told

Another Craghoppers fan here.
I've got a lightweight anorak style one for summer downpours and have a parka style one being bought for me for Christmas.
One tip I would suggest if you go to Gooutdoors for one, make sure you check the price in store against that on the website as I know there are some differences currently and they will charge the online price if you show them it.

For Warmth - Lands End duvet jackets. I deliberately do not test them in the wet.

For wet - I've yet to find anything better than Keela's Munroe jacket I've had mine for 15 years You can wear down inside it. I live in the Yorkshire Pennines and am surrounded by reservoirs. We have over 60 inches a year rainfall that's easily twice what you get around Teesside

Combination - Buffalo every time but be careful if you bulge at the front some of them are prone to zip problems. Nothing wrong with the jacket it is the problem with your shape. I know I suffer from it too

Fjallraven owners, are they REALLY warm. I definitely need a new winter coat here in Chicago but refuse to wear Canada Goose like half the population here.

The Swedes don't even wear Fjallraven !! The was a mention for Snugpak on the other thread it is better than Buffalo if you are standing still - if you are moving Buffalo is my preference

I normally do the Footie in a Tech T shirt and a duvet jacket preferably with a hood I'll add a buff if it is very cold

I can categorically confirm that this will keep you warm, at the summit of Roseberry Topping in January.
