As a young lad I had a bloke at work with me who constantly played his Hank Williams music and could not, for the life of him, understand that I didn't like it " but I loved it when I was 18! And your 18 now!?!? ".
I'm 60 now , and I'd be interested in a millennial/ up to 30 year old,'s opinion of one of my favourite albums.
Is it good? Has it any real music value after 40 years??
I don't want any opinions from any one my age as you will be influenced by you own memory.
So , an LP/ album needs to be p!ayed, ideally ,in its entirety, or at least in the order it's set out in.
Download SIREN by Roxy Music and let me know , I still think it's got merit, but I'm an old fart.Imagine
Any one else suggest one ? ,just 1?
I find modern yoof a lot more broad minded around music.I
Do we have any posters under 30 ????????

Siren was alright, but Hank Williams still stands the test of time:D

But I'm 50, so out of your required demographic...

Just so I understand your question, are you after album recommendations from modern music? 😎

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust would be my choice. This LP was shared with me by a lad called John Turner when I was serving my apprenticeship down Smiths Dock. John gave me a cassette recording of this LP and I went out and bought it. My original copy went missing over the years and around five years back my son bought me it for Christmas.

I think it was first released in 1972.

To clarify.
I want an under 30year old to listen to SIREN by ROXY MUSIC.
Then tell me if it's any good , From a musical point of view, on!y, no hype
Spiders from Mars, what Id give to !listen to that for the first time ( again!).
I'm to old to do a link of my cheapo tablet.

I found when my kids were in their late teens that I got into the same alternative rock music that they liked. Later on I discovered that those bands where influenced by the likes of the Clash, SLF and the Damned, all the sort of music that I liked as a kid.
So I played that to my kids, they didnt get it in the same way as they said that my groups were too raw and unpolished. I understand these as the years tend to refine each genre to appeal to a greater number of commercial customers.

By the very definition of music most younger generations want to turn away from what the older generations liked. Because of teenage angst and the need to discover something new.

34 here (which I think makes me a millennial?) - listen to all sorts but pretty skewed towards older stuff.

I genuinely don't think there are many bands post-2000 which will stand the test of time in the same way as many older bands. Radiohead and Fleet Foxes at top of mind.

As for Siren it is a very good album with one or two incredible songs - not a patch on their work with Eno though ;)

I'm slightly confused by the request, so I'll cover both possible bases

Old music for a "Millennial" - Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon

New music for someone who likes Hank Williams - Jason Isbell, The Nashville Sound

If it helps I can't Ordinary World by Duran Duran out of my head today. I want more of the same tempo, same feeling music with that haunting guitar solo towards the end.
