Really distressing

Grocery market has been tracking behind the previous year, in terms of sales, for almost 3 years.
This week they will be tracking ahead by circa 60% - 70%
Unprecedented
So as an expert in the field - what is your take on food supply chain and panic buying

The problem for grocery retailers is that after this session of panic buying, there'll be a downturn as people realise that over 80's don't drive delivery lorries and all the panic buyers have run out of cash for a few weeks. So they may do well this week, but in a week or two their sales will dip for a while.

The impact on online grocery shopping is interesting. I read that delivery dates at some online grocers are up to 6 weeks out.

I went to Morrisons earlier and it was that busy that there were people queuing for trollies.

I'd say a good 80%+ of shoppers were over the age of 70 as well.

Do they not realise they're the most risk of getting this virus?

Most of the shelves were empty.

Absolute chaos!

I could understand old people doing that. They might be at risk but they are the least likely to use online shopping and they know they are about to be put on lockdown. If they don't feel like they have anyone to help them you can understand them rushing out. That's why more of us need to get out and help the elderly in anyway we can to make them realise they shouldn't be taking unnecessary risks.
