Reality setting in- another season of struggle?

I had hoped after our close call with relegation we would be able to kick on. The right manager in place? Unquestionably. But once more we’ve proved we are totally useless at acquiring our real targets.

And once more a lot of our players are showing they just arnt good enough. Warnocks frustration is becoming more apparent. Why oh why can’t we become what we should be? A professional football club? For too long we have appeared to be little more than a cottage industry, homespun type of club.

We seem incapable of being a club who can operate in a shrewd and canny manner.

Something in testing Financial Times is essential. But, I’m afraid, it is the same old, same old. We’re not even a pale shadow of what we were. Depressing.

Last time I looked at the table, there were another 45 matches to be played.
Lets not raise the white flag just yet eh ?.
We have a new goalkeeper, central midfielder and hopefully a central forward today.
Warnock isn’t finished with the loan market either he says so lets wait and see.
Whatever happened to giving the table a dozen matches before we know which end we will be at.

Another season of struggle? Well, yes. But is there any other kind? When have we ever had an easy breezey season without difficulty and complications?

We wasted and spunked millions - that’s what I mean. If you don’t see it as a missed opportunity you are way off beam. The club has been run no better than a Sunday League team - that’s the top and bottom of it

Of course it was a "missed opportunity" but I don't think it was anything more than poor luck and some poor judgement (though well intentioned) take paying over the odds for Afonso Alves as the price went up we seemed unable to step away. But that pattern of behaviour goes on at every club. It is very easy to list mistakes of this nature for the club that you follow but it happens at all clubs. At the bigger clubs a major signing or two can go "t*ts up" and they will just buy another couple. We don't have that luxury. And that is often the difference between being in the position of (say) Burnley and being in the position we find ourselves in. A gem coming through the academy or unearthed in lower leagues can make all the difference but every club is looking for the same gem, that's where luck comes in.

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it but I think you are exaggerating I think the club has been responsibly run with a view to a long term future for the club. Could things have been done better? Of course but when people start talking about "taking the step up" they are simply thinking of the wrong club or viewing decisions with perfect hindsight. Our fortunes will turn. There are enough examples of clubs who have tried to "take the next step" to show that it is often as recipe for disaster.

2016/17 - too many gambles and gave up in the January
2017/18 - Monk blew £50m - strange goings on
2018/19 - Pulis Blew £20m - hated it
2019/20 - Project Woodgate scuppered by Covid-19
2020/21 - looking forward to it, expectations should be to finish around the play offs in my opinion.
Bettinelli, Hall & Morsy are solid signings with more to come. I really like how Warnock comes across.
