Realistic signings

Season has been over a week, thoughts have been gathered and we've come to terms with another season in the championship.
What's realistically your ideal 11 with signings made + your bench?

Karl Darlow - In from Newcastle
Isiah Jones
Darragh Leinhan - In from Blackburn
Dael Fry
Jacob Grieves - In from Hull
Jamal Lewis - In from Newcastle
Paddy McNair
Matt Crooks
Marcus Tavernier
Cameron Archer - In from Aston Villa
Emil Riis - In from Preston

Sol Brynn
Anfeenee Dijksteel
Marc Bola
Martin Payero
Riley Mcgree
Scott Twine - In from MK Dons
Duncan Watmore

of course they can, but its more of an unknown quantity as to whether they can apply themselves to a very demanding and tough league like the championship.

Speed of the game is the biggest issue oer here, so many simply struggle to adapt.

While that's definitely the case for some I do think the issue is overstated by some.

Plenty of sides have gone up in recent seasons with plenty of foreign signings as key players (including players new to the country).

A lot probably depends on how good your scouting is and how good they are at identifying if players have the right skill set and mentality to adapt.

Wilder spoke in one of his prior interviews of how much higher the stats are in the championship for running and intensity based criterion, than the majority of top leagues in Europe, so id be shocked to see many signings from outside the UK

I'd like to see us go after Semenyo at Bristol City. Tortured us when we played them. Only young. 8 goals and 12 assists this season plus has been very near the top of the charts for top pressers in the Championship so you'd think he would suit Wilder's style. Not sure how much it would take to get him though

I'm not sure Emil Riis Jakobsen is realistic.

I can't see Preston parting with him for less than £10 million, and they'd probably want £15 million.
And there's no guarantee he'd bring his goalscoring with him (Rhodes and Britt didn't).

We'll have to find our own striking gems. Do what Preston did: look in the Danish league, then wait a year for him to get up to speed.

I think the difference to prior regimes is that the signings will be more thoroughly planned and a solution to a problem.

Take Rhodes for example, a striker that played in a 2 his entire career, we sign him and stick him up front on his own, of course he's not going to reproduce the same results.

Riley McGree wasn't signed to be a squad player. I expect him to be a regular starter. Also would have thought Dijksteel will be in there too and expect Howson to be around for another season. Tav and Fry may be difficult to hang on to so they might not be there so even more likely McGree and Dijksteel are starters.

Oh and Boyd-Munce ought to be pushing for a regular place at least on the bench otherwise why was he bought? He's 22 now and only about 9 months younger than Tav who I think has played over 100 games. It's time he was making his mark if he's going to amount to anything.

I would think that Lenihan in might mean Fry out? That would then allow us to finance better first choice forwards than those in the initial post

sadly, you may be onto something there. I hope you're wrong mind. Fry missing those games later in the season is what ultimately cost us the play offs in my opinion.

Possible, but we have lost our two covering centre halves and are actively looking to move Hall out I assume, so he may just be in addition to what we have?

If we are playing with three again we need at lest two adequate cover players who can challenge for a starting position (or improve us and become starters themselves), and maybe a couple of do a job at push covering options in an injury/suspension crisis.

RCB - Dijksteel - McNair - Fisher - Howson

CB - Fry - Leniham - Hall? - Wood?

LCB - ????? - McNair - Bola? - ????

Busy summer ahead.

i think that involves a few square pegs in round holes.

RCB - Mcnair - dijksteel
CB - FRY - ?????
LCB - ????? Bola (might be a stretch)

From that you could deduce that Lenihan is either cover for fry or starting LCB.

I don't think we have the budget to spend lenihans expected wage on a cover CB and he aint left footed which rules him out the LCB role, otherwise you'd put mcnair there and save yourself the mcnair/dijksteel issue.
