Good article on the BBC of how they were formed, worked their way up & now face Spurs in the knockout (real) rounds of the Shampions League....

only sign u23 players,
no - star - signings,
Most players under £20m.. £27m most expensive player..
worked their way up from 5th tier of German league... now 2nd in Bundesliga

Built for brand promotion though developing talent around the world, can't be a bad thing.... when too many of the supposed galactico clubs throw endless money at ego infested over hyped failing superstars.... it's good to see young talent developed & playing.

The only negative is all their feeder clubs are essentially set to fail & disappoint their local fans as their best players will go to push for glory - only - with RB Leipzig.....

I feel better about them than I do about say Manchester City. They have at least gone about it the right way. Starting from the bottom and working their way up and not trying to just buy superstars. They are playing good football and doing it with young players signed via an impressive multi-club scouting network. They are a marketing tool at the end of the day but it has to be preferable to just having Bayern hoover up all of the talent in the Bundesliga and win the league every year.

I agree I am not a fan of Man City either but surely there is a parallel here. They haven't charged up the 5 Leagues without the massive investment of Red Bull

What’s wrong with how Man City have gone about their business? That they’ve rocked the status quo of United, Liverpool and Arsenal? They also took the best players, for the most money. We may have more zeros involved now, but it’s nothing different. Are Man City in danger of going bust? Have they spent millions regenerating areas of Manchester?

United accounts aren’t in Manchester anymore, they’re in the Cayman Islands, the Glazers taking tens of millions in dividends. Real Madrid have been propped up by the Spanish government for decades. They’re all kicking up a fuss because there is a new boy in town and they don’t like it.

Agree Nowthen.

Even Gary Neville said the same last night.

How else would Man City (or the likes) compete for big titles against the world giants of Man Utd/Barcelona/Bayern Munich/Liverpool/Real Madrid etc without investing a shed load of money via an owner.

Blackburn did it, Leicester did it, Chelsea did it and now City have done it.

The moaners are the fans of the big clubs who are crying because they've upset their applecart.

As long as the club doesn't look anywhere near like going bust, then let them crack on.

Wolves are currently trying to do the same....how else would Wolves ever compete against the likes of Arsenal/Man Utd/Liverpool etc?

Yep, we even did it to an extent with Juninho, Emerson and Rav and his 40k a week wages, which were huge at the time. Bang average players earn that now! Still blows my mind that we signed Brazil’s number 10 for £4.75m.

Boro fans alive at that time will cherish those memories forever. I imagine City fans will cherish Pep and the brand of football he has brought to them forever too.
