Yeah that's his brother from Liverpool But isn't related to Davy van den berg still at his old club.

I don't think we need a paddy replacement.

RVDB, Clarke, Lenihan, Fry with Howson who can fill in and look exceptionally comfortable. I think we are pretty well stocked.

At a push Smith or Engel could drop in if we had an injury crisis again.

I don't think Howson should be stepping in at centre back unless its an emergency, he's more effective in midfield and he's probably onto the last year of his career.

I agree but I'd have him as 5th choice CB. I don't think we need to buy or loan in a 5th choice CB.

If we end up signing Ayling he has also played plenty of games at CB. Agree we don't need a 5th CB. We have 4 and a couple of players able to play there in an emergency,

After this seasons injury crisis I would suggest 5 CB, the potential cover of Smith, Ayling , engles and howson may not be enough

I don't really think Mcnair actually needs 'replacing'

We are pretty stacked at CB with Clarke / Rav / Fry and Lenihan. That's only 2 of those 4 starting. All very capable champo CBs.

On top of that Howson and Ayling (hopefully) can also step in if required. Howson was actually superb in that role.

So the Mcnair wages will be better invested in other areas. That's CM / LW and CF. I don't think we really need to do anything at the back. That's even with Mcnair and probably Dijksteel leaving.

I assume that is reliant on us signing Ayling? If we don't sign Ayling and let Dijksteel go then we would need to find a RB. I also think it depends on the confidence in Smith coming back to fitness. They'll have a good idea on whether they think he will return to fitness or not.

I personally would try and get a better LB as well and let Engel go. But I know opinion is split on Engel.
