Is anybody else excited about this signing? He could turn out to be a Gaston type signing potentially but then also has the potential to go awol! I'm hopeful that he's desperate to prove himself! UTB

Not really. He hasn’t done it anywhere for years and we’re nothing special so I’m not optimistic it’ll be any different at Boro than it has been at his last few clubs. Hopefully he proves me wrong and has a great last few months of the season, would love that.

zero expectation - NEVER - done anything anywhere.. I feel he may have very average impact & may have some good touches & skills though will they make him look good or benefit the team..

9 clubs in 6 years.. a prospect way back when has he matured enough to realise his once much hyped potential..
If he plays for the team & his game is about the team he may have a positive impact, if he has an inward looking focus he'll not benefit us..

I think a position he could revel in is as the advanced midfield role in 352 with Saville and McNair as insurance behind him, he could link well with Britt and Fletcher and hopefully show some of his skills and create. I just hope he’s not a nuisance around the place and he is tactically aware because if as is reported and he isn’t switched on tactically the loan spell will probably be as his other numerous spells have been, a waste. Hopefully the lad can show us what he’s made of.

Been a waste of space wherever he has been since leaving Man U. Seems to be earning a living off Fergie saying he was the best young prospect he's ever had.
Can't get enthusiastic about him changing because he's come to Boro

He was class for QPR, Ostersund and Atlas so I wouldn't say he hasn't done it anywhere. He is a great talent, probably a risk worth taking on a short term deal to see if he has his head in the right place.

Agree, it’s Definetly a risk worth taking. If it doesn’t pay off then there isn’t much to loose in my opinion. And it if pays off then it puts is in pole position to sign him up in the summer. Totally see the logic in the signing and I’m quite intrigued to see what he can bring to the table.

You could be right finny & history has backed you on this but I'm a big believer in a manager & player will click at a certain club & hopefully this could be the club for Ravel

Good on ya Woody hopefully it works 👍

Go on then Chappy - please tell us how you worked out he was class in the 50 odd games he played for those 3 clubs you mentioned? Can't be his goal scoring record.
QPR benched him for their biggest game of the season

I'd love it to work out for us by the way

Trying to look at it objectively, if the likes of Charlton or Reading had signed him then I wouldn't bat an eyelid. If I'm being honest, I'd probably think they were daft for taking a chance on someone who's had so many chances and not shown much.

However, as a naturally optimistic Boro fan then there's always a part of me which will get excited at the prospect of him becoming the player that Fergie thought said he could. Fingers crossed we have another midfield magician on our hands!

Oh you mean you looked at Wikipedia? Sorry I forgot that's how we judge players rather than actually reading about how he performed for those clubs. If you'd done any sort of research you'd know that he was playing as a deep lying playmaker for both Atlas and Ostersund so it's not surprise he didn't score a lot of goals.

Chappy - you made the claim he was 'class'. It sparked my curiosity as I would like to believe it.
I had a look on Wikki and it didn't fill me with hope, I then found out QPR had him as a sub for their biggest game- so wondered how you had come to your judgement - that's all really.

Maybe start by telling us how many times you saw him for QPR, Atlas and Otersund and take it from there.

I work with someone whose son plays for Sheff Utd U23s and he says that they thought a similar thing about having a nothing to lose punt on him but just because he doesn't perform on the pitch it doesn't mean there is nothing to lose. He has been very disruptive in the dressing room at Sheff Utd and was the ringleader of a clique of players that weren't making the 1st team regularly. If he thinks there is nothing to gain from a situation then he won't put in any effort at all. He was dreadful in his Carabao cup appearances and so was sent to play for the U23s. He was taken off at half time and the U23 manager refused to allow him to play for them again. Apparently he is a decent trainer but he knew Wilder wasn't a fan and so saw nothing to gain from putting the effort in to his few appearances.

Hopefully he will turn it around with us. He was on a 1 year contract with Sheff Utd so he isn't really on loan and is essentially a free agent again. He's obviously got ability and hopefully a chance to prove himself again for a manager that will give him a chance might cause him to take it a bit more seriously than he took his time at Sheff Utd. We seem to have a good spirit in the dressing room at the moment. I'd hate for that to be disrupted by someone like Morrison for a short term punt that doesn't work out.

He definitely wasn't 'class' for QPR.

He was ok, but certainly not 'class'.

I am not fussed about this signing. Nearly everywhere he's been he's been a nuisance and a bad egg.

I understand how some can see it's a shot to nothing because he won't be costing us a great deal...but it only takes one bad apple to spoil the bunch.

I'll give him a chance but if I had to choose to have a squad with or without him, I'd leave him at Sheff Utd.

Hopefully I'm wrong and he proves to be a cracking loan signing.

I wonder how much money he's earned in his career, being an ex-ManU prospect with a bad attitude but the potential of being good. Too many time servers earning daft money for doing nothing. Give me the Northern League any day.
