Rangers knocked out of the cup by the dog and duck at home

Queens Park - are they part timers?

Is this like a lower English Premier League team losing at home to a National League team - sort of Ebbsfleeet winning at West Ham.

It was a bit different. We eventually paid off all our debts and secured working capital in 1986 so never actually went out of business.
Rangers went bust and had to start again.
We were wound up and had to restart as a new company Middlesbrough Football and Athletic Club(1986) Ltd
The new company was formed by purchasing Blackpay Ltd a dead company
So can you tell me what the difference was?

I broadly agree, in the sense that we were liquidated and reformed as a new company, but allowed to transfer League membership etc to the new company and 'continue'. This was conditional on assuming the liabilities of the oldco. The new 'Rangers' acquired the assets of the oldco but has never taken responsibility for the liabilities.

Is it classed as a local derby?

And the Dog and Duck have one of the best stadiums in Scotland.

They're not quite the minnows I first took them to be.

5th in the Scottish 2nd tier and now professional. It's not quite like losing to Berwick.

Still, hugely embarrassing for Rangers.

Great bit of history witnessed by that small but very happy bunch of fans, its good that it can still happen. Sometimes it must be soul destroying for other clubs when its just the 2 win week in week out.

Well done Queens Park.

We paid off all our debts and were able to show enough working capital to continue.
Rangers weren't able to do that and had to start again.

With that in mind I don't actually know why we had to form a new company if all the debts were paid anyway.
Maybe something to do with Football League deadlines?
Or did we think by forming a new company we would be able to start again debt free in the way Rangers (and others) have? Or at last pay a small percentage of debts.
But the Football League put a stop to that in order to 'crucify a small football club'.
