Ramp it up....

Come on! Start allowing a slow migration of users over to here. To get some progress. We are in limbo at the moment.

We have house moving and builder issues this week in the real world. And I have to do a fanzine. So, we might have to slow it down a bit I am afraid. In saying that the advert guy is going to be trying stuff out tomorrow.
Did you notice the darker red, by the way?
But yes sorry life might intervene slightly this week.
I will get more people over as and when I can during the week.

Ta. I feel that knowing not to expect much for a week or two is important. Hope all goes well.

I am partially colour blind so did not notice the colour change.

For me some sticky threads is the most important improvement. Of course bug fixes like adverts blocking people posting come first.

Having a sticky thread for bugs and suggested improvements would be sensible. Plus another one for status updates. Plus perhaps a match thread each time.

Personally I think dont pollute the front page with sticky threads. Put an announcement forum in the forum list if theres sticky information needed. Sticky threads get out of hand fast and we saw with the old forum, get out of date fast and aren't necessarily removed fast, often without a post in over a year. Alternatively, use an announcement mod that alternates which message is shown at the top.

I feel that some things are important enough to not disappear down the board. I guess it comes down to personal opinion.

Maybe this landing page is the best place for them. The threads could even be migrated to a separate Announcements board.

(I’m not in favour of creating multiple boards though, in general.)

Even if you aren't in favour having multiple boards, having somewhere for announcements would be far preferable. At one point there was about 8 sticky threads on the old forum. Thats 8 topics that 99% of users are scrolling past to get to the actual content. A forum shouldn't really have anymore than one sticky thread at a time, if any.

Especially important when you can only see around nine threads on a mobile screen.

You can scroll down though? I mean how many facebook statuses can you see on your mobile screen? Or tweets? how many subjects do you need to see at once when you can see another 9 in 0.1 seconds time with a tiny swipe? FMTTM's demographic is ancient anyway so probably need the large print.

Yes, but I don’t have to scroll past the same eight tweets at the top of the timeline every day. I’m agreeing that I don’t think having a set of stickie threads is a good idea. Put them on a separate board 👍

The 3 sticky threads I would definitely want to see are: Posting rules and guidelines; Suggested improvements; Status reports on updates to the board software and configuration.

In particular, the first one would explain what might cause you to be banned.

The other two are important now. They could then be removed once the board is stable and everyone has been over here for a while.

Surely rules you agree to when you join a forum? They can be linked on the site, help section and added to a menu, but surely you don’t need a sticky post to rush to in case a rule slips your mind?

The latter two sound like they would be in the same post. Most suggested improvements people might make are probably closely linked to the progress. Rob doesn’t seem to get a lot of time for this sort of stuff judging by how long it’s taken to get to this point.
