Raducanu!!!

Didnt say anyone was arguing. It may or may not have been a valid critique of her progress, that's a matter of opinion, but it was an opinion that has been voiced, and she has now 'blown it out the water'by beating the Olympic champion in straight sets. Well done her.
Carciff was right. It wasn’t opinion it was a fact that she hadn’t played anybody either at Wimbledon or up until today in either Wimbledon or US majors that had been in the top 40 ranking. But you are quite right to emphasise that it has been blown out of the water today. Anybody who was voicing any concerns though needs to be up in the disdain step alongside the poster who said she was Canadian.

She did. And she quite clearly was having a panic attack. Playing superbly well now, good on her!
Assuming taht was a one off it’s probably made her so much stronger happening so early in her career. She’s certainly got the all round game if she has the mental side of things sorted she is going to go along way. I fancy her to make the final now and then who knows!

Sure like I said it's a valid opinion. I'm a bit more charitable about it. Its not like she is an established top 10 player and is having an easy draw against players well below her level. She had to qualify and came into the tournament ranked 150. Her opponents before today may not have been top tier but no really expected her to beat them the way she did. Seems to me a bit of revisionism to say she hadn't been tested yet.

Absolutely brilliant achievement from both women to reach the final and both now have a chance to cement their places in sporting history
As far as Emma goes, I hope she has a team of good people around her who have her best interests as their sole priority.
The media, not just sports media, sponsors and every chancer looking to cash in will be after a piece of her time or image.
Raducanu is clearly talented enough to have a successful and lucrative career and doesn't need the added exposure and pressure of numerous superfluous external demands. There are enough apocryphal stories of sportsmen and women failing to fulfil their potential and gaining their place in history because they've let the peripheral activities overtake their sporting exploits.

In the words of Simon Cowell - ‘She doesn’t yet know how good she is’. In her post match interview, she is so down to earth. “No pressure in the final, I’m just a qualifier”..cmon Emma, one more to go 👍🏻❤️

Well the lesson there is the Japanese lady who has just taken an indefinite break from the sport/ Naomi Osaka. Luckily she has a large team around her , hopefully they do their job. She is going to be marketing gold and will become a multi millionaire in the coming weeks let’s hope all that doesn’t distract from her game. She seems level headed enough. It’s a great story hopefully she can complete the fairytale on Saturday night and?take her place in sporting history!

I just read the reports of the game - they said her opponent complained to the umpire - anybody watch it - - do you know why she complained?

As mentioned above, this is brilliant news to wake up to.

I think ER has already cemented her place in history, the first British woman to reach a major singles final in 44 years.

This is taken from the BBC:

Additionally, Raducanu is:
  • the youngest British Grand Slam finalist in 62 years, since Christine Truman reached the French Open final aged 18 in 1959
  • the first British woman to reach a US Open final in 53 years, following Wade in 1968
  • only the fourth British woman to reach a Grand Slam final in the Open era

Again displaying huge amounts of mental strength in that 1st set. Saving 7 break points on her first 2 service games shows she is a big game performer.

SPOTY seems a shoe in for her now and wow just what a talent we could have on our hands. I suppose the only concern is longevity as female tennis players that burst on to the stage at an early age do seem to suffer from injuries both physically and mentally (with the Williams sisters tending to be the exception), but as said above hopefully she is surrounded by good people.

Gonna have to stay up late to watch the final now. What a player this lass is. Not to temp fate but she has played Fernandaz once before as a junior in 2018 and beat her 6-2 6-4 so she has every chance. Even if she loses she has still created history here.

Her grand slam record already is superb, is that 9 wins and one retirement in 10 matches!

I've only seen a couple of point but the girl she beat today, face like thunder when she walked off court. She looked thoroughly frustrated like she had been outplayed and couldn't find a way to get on top or ER, anyone confirm how the match went?
