Radiohead

The Bends is like a lot of incomplete tunes with promising intros.
OK Computer always reminds me of the wek that followed the death of Princess Diana.
I remember Oasis' album 'Be Here Now' coming out and everyone being like.. urrr wtf?

All the britpop bands massively upped their game and Oasis delivered that steaming pile of dog todd!

No Surprises is a favourite of mine, awfully depressing subject matter but beautiful nonetheless.

I was walking / carrying the Mrs through the back of the Pyramid field at Glastonbury and Fake plastic trees stopped us both dead in our tracks. It was hypnotic watching and listening to it on the hill.
As soon as the last note played the Mrs projectile vomited on the bloke infront of us. It was a mix of emotions in that five minute window.

When I see a thread about something that doesn't interest me, I scroll by. It would never occur to me to open up the thread and make a post about how I don't like that thing. Weird.
it truly is, and Radiohead threads always seem to attract this for some weird reason. Some people really get concerned about music being too intellectual, and can't help but feel they must find a way to ridicule it.

The Bends on The Bends.
They played it at Old Trafford in 2017 for the first time in ages. Was one of the highlights of my life.

After that - Black Star & Videotape

To my shame I haven't seen them live and only recently got into them. I used to have a similar opinion to some on this thread. I guess maybe age made me appreciate them more

First saw them in 98 at the Tibetan Freedom concert in Washington DC. Superb. Seen Radiohead/Atoms for Peace/Thom Yorke probably 10 times since.

Almost impossible to pick - there's a version of "How to disappear completely" live in Dublin shortly after Kid A came out which is spellbinding.

At the moment, it's probably this - just as I've never heard it before.

I've only seen them once in Lisbon and I was sick as a dog which took the shine if it somewhat. Can't wait for another chance.

Yeah they released this as one of the rejects from the Kid A & Amnesia album sessions. They've had some incredible reject tracks.

I've ordered the cream Vinyl, there's 3 'untilted tracks' on it, be interesting if they are also completed 'new' songs

WTF ? Why is it strange? It's a forum where people comment on the subject title. Is that difficult to understand. So, like it or not here is my opinion.

I get it you like Radiohead, I just can't get into them at all. It's nothing to do with the music being "too intellectual". In fact the music is far from being intellectual, perhaps you mean the lyrics, but the music is one paced, predictable, dull. whiny, boring and depressing. If you want intellectual music try some classic / early prog with its complex chord structures and time signatures & changes played by highly skilled multi instrumental musicians. Radiohead music is about as intellectual as Coldplay and just as entertaining.

I've really tried to connect with them, encouraged by mates who love them. I wouldn't care but I love Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree and even quite like (some) Muse so it would seem natural for me to like Radiohead as well but they just leave me cold. That Father Ted clip is exactly what their music does to me.
I may try again with some of the recommendations on here but I don't hold out much hope.

Still, you can't like everything.

....... and on that, I'm out. Don't want to upset BoroMart any more :p

I could've written that post K_t_B 😁
(except I find Muse equally hard to like)
I'm well into my music so feel like I must be missing something with Radiohead and have really tried to get into them with quite a few listens to loads of their albums, but nothing connects with me. Just one of those things I guess. Different strokes for different folks.
