Fans have said the Southfield Road boozer was 'one of the best in Boro' - now it's gone forever
Before and after
One of "the best pubs in Boro" has been flattened.
Beer Today - Gone Forever
Over decades, The Star built a reputation for big nights out as one of the town's busiest venues.
But the bulldozers moved in - and now there's only turf in its place.
Stunned fans of the Southfield Road venue have paid heartfelt tributes, saying "RIP to the best carvery on the planet" - and claim it will be "strange not seeing it there".
Known as The Star and Garter for years, the venue had a huge makeover in 2015 which transformed it from an old-school, traditional boozer to a modern venue with - a dancefloor.
It became known for its food, in particular Sunday dinners and was frequented by everyone from students and office workers to loyal regulars.
Owner Teesside University bought up the building as part of a £300m masterplan to overhaul the campus.

Fans of the place have posted about its demise on social media.
One said: "One of my favourite bars. Had no posers or lads who love themselves, just honest people enjoying a night out."
"R.I.P, oh Starry beer soaked building," another poetic poster wrote. "It hadn't been long since it was tarted up as well."
