How do you all feel about flying and travelling abroad...
When do you think you will feel comfortable to travel with your family or alone again...
Is it now...or is it something you just feel.uneasy about as I do and dont know when you will.set foot back in an airport
Not sure exactly why but the thought of becoming ill abroad always seems a lot worse

Haven’t really thought about it to be honest. Hard to think about it when I’m not allowed to go and see my mam, dad and brother and sisters for a cuppa and a catch up.

I went away a couple of weeks ago. It was actually really pleasant. Loads less people. Everyone wearing masks throughout the airport. Decent distancing on the airport seating and most of the queueing. Plane third-half full. More people had checked themselves in towards the front of the plane, so the back was really empty.

Yes I was reassured by my experience 4 weeks ago. I am getting the last outbound Easyjet flight of the season, so I expect this to be pretty empty. It only goes out because the return leg is normally full. The place I will be is all open and you can eat/drink outside all year really. It is also out of season so very few there.

Flew with EasyJet a few weeks ago from Barcelona to Liverpool, probably the best flying experience I’ve had, check in and security was deserted and only about 10 passengers in total on the plane. Devastating for the airlines though.

I've been flying to and from Egypt on an organised charter flight. Most modern planes don't recycle the air so you're getting a decent supply. It seems most transmission on planes comes from the toilets when they are flushed. There are a few studies knocking about. People seem to remove their masks whilst on the trap and the flush disturbs particles in the toilet. Apart from that, airports are very quiet. Much more relaxing.

I know what you mean mate...I'm just thinking a bit more ahead i suppose.but yes it's a little ambitious I suppose for a lot of people (including me if I'm.honest)

Two years time. Probably the greatest risk.

I’d go in a heartbeat but then I work for an airline. Was meant to be in fishing in Canada and visiting my girlfriends family in South Africa this year and gutted I didn’t get to do either. I live for my holidays and travelling, got Norway, Mauritius, Canada and South Africa next year.

If it wasn’t for the quarantine rules and a lack of leave I’d be travelling now, would happily pay for a test to avoid having to quarantine but can’t afford to take a month off work to have a 2 week break.

I either had Covid when I went to New York in Feb or I’m not going to get it on a aircraft as I’ve spent hundreds of hours working inside aircraft this year and half the time we haven’t had to wear masks.

Agreed. Whilst it's totally unsustainable for the airlines, the flying experience at the moment is actually more pleasant, with way less people. The only time that social distancing broke down a bit was going through security, but even that they were still managing pretty well.

I wouldn’t go on holiday purely for the sheer number of people you will come in contact with either in the airplane, airport, transport, hotel, other guests, food prep etc and it just seems a needless risk to be crossing boarders and potentially taking / bringing back a condition that may not have been there / back home otherwise

I flew to Benidorm for a long weekend 6 weeks ago. I thought the whole experience was very well handled (I expected p*ssed up lads on the flight with no masks etc).

The spacing between seats were well done as only half full flight (I'm guessing deliberately). The check in was a breeze. I went with a few reservations but it was handled really well especially as it was a budget airline.

The majority of folk wore masks in Benidorm (apart from when boozing😉). Also seemed to be less anti covid loons thinking its all a myth.

That said me and the missus were meant to be going to Thailand for Xmas. We've clearly sacked it off as I don't fancy flying for 13hrs with a mask and I imagine many places will be closed (also unrest in Bangkok). Just think it will be better doing it next year..... Well hopefully😒

it seems like the experiences of posters who have flown have been positive ones, which is good to hear. that said, i'm not sure we'll be booking anywhere abroad just yet. i think i'd be OK with short haul, but reality is that if we were to travel, it would be to the states as it is well over a year since we were last there to see family and friends, so that would have to be our priority before we considered week away on our own to lanzarote or something like that. i'm not sure a long haul flight would be something i would relish, nor the fact that we would have to travel through major transport hubs which inevitably have far greater numbers of people from all around the world (typically terminal 5 or Schiphol). for those 2 main reasons, i think we will just have to hang fire for now and see where we are next spring. if the situation is no better, the likelihood is that we will re-evaluate and book flights
