Just accidently flicked it on to hear someone declaring on national TV that "The EU are the ones that introduced a rule saying we couldn't sell a banana because it was the wrong shape".

We are 5 years on from the vote, how are people still taken in by such utter stupid falsehoods. It's like there is a collective lobotomy by about 52 in every 100 people... ARRGHGHHH

Unfortunately, while Fiona Bruce did point out that it was false, she neglected to point out that it was actually one of Johnson's Telegraph lies.

In the interests of balance, what are the chances of a staunch remainer accidentally switching on just to hear that false comment? It was refuted appropriately as rubbish. We need to move on together not raise division.
she said "it was proven false, I think". There is no think, it was false.

...and yeah, I did accidently switch on, I had paused TV to watch the Euro build up programme with my son, when it ended I went back to live and QT was obviously on the same channel, and I missed the first 20mins or whatever.

I haven't watched QT for months, it was depressing to be honest

It usually is for remainers and brexiteers too, still, the real issue is not about what is said on tv, but about us all coming together as a country. Comments like yours, no offence, create division as you well know, that is never a good thing imho. Progress will be slow whilst we upset one another rather than managing the here and now

What is said on TV and media in general influences thoughts.

Nice sentiment, but the reality is there are powerful people actively ensuring that this continues, my voice on here is neither here nor there compared to Johnson et al and their propoganda.

I said 3 years ago that brexit has created social divisions that will last 2 generations, I have seen absolutely nothing to change my mind on that. Just more division, with brexit divisions repeated in things like how we approach racism, and do we want a fairer society. No matter what anyone says or does, we are all now defined by how we voted in 2016, and for the next 30 years that rift will persist. That's the real price to pay for brexit, as much as any economic impact and international reputation damage.

Oh dear, the failure to recognise compromise is a worry. I respect you as a Boro supporter, but am concerned at the comments above show no reconciliation re Brexit and the majority albeit small.

There is no compromise from brexiteers. My compromise was, ok, we had a slim, illegal funded, and dishonest brexit vote. If it was 90% go ahead on full on brexit, but it wasn't, so stick to your "no one is talking about leaving the single market". I would accept that, as a 'compromise' situatio, that reflected the vote and the promises made.

What compromise have brexiteers made?

Rubbish, i supported a 2nd referendum on here, as did others. Your stance is disappointing, prejudiced

I'll ask a second time, what compromise have brexiteers made? Brexiteers on the whole stated "We won get over it, get it done". Most remainers accepted it was going to happen. You got what you wanted, now they want to blame the EU for getting what they voted for, mental.

You and others are not asking for compromise, you are asking for capitulation.

My opinion isn't prejudiced, I don't think every brexiteer is thick, but there are large swathes of deeply uneducated and susceptible people that fell for rhetoric, which has turned out to be just that. I mean Northern Ireland, trade plummeting, brexit lorry parks etc. The fact that someone is prepared to go on national TV and say something as deeply flawed as straight bananas, with the conviction of being right, tells you we have some serious, serious problems in this country.

I am quite happy to spend what's left of my life fighting to at least rejoin the single market, if not the full EU.
I have no issue with that and support any overturn. Democracy has to be respected at all costs whether you agree or you don’t. We don’t disagree on democracy i don’t think, just you do not like democracies outcome, is that it?

Strangely I was getting turned off by QT because of Fiona's style of always interrupting shortly after asking a question. It drives me nuts. Not helped by the earpiece I'm sure. But tonight it was the first time for a while now where I actually enjoyed the debates(in spite of Fiona's interruptions). It was pointed out by the American on the panel that it was because there shouldn't be attempts to make political capital out of the arguments and that is the way it should be done( said when discussing Covid ). Express your point of view, let the other speak, ask the questioner what they thought debate and move on. For too long QT became a shouting match between politicos. It is much better when people speak their minds and not what they are told to say.
Was it because the panel were mainly women, two of which were friends and the two blokes had nothing to lose politically. Don't know, but tonight I found it rather refreshing.
The debate on the sausages was a cracker, and I find the EU's approach not helpful. Trying to deprive the NI community their bangers a shocking state of affairs.

very disappointed you see me that way in truth.

i am not asking for capitulation, just compromise. Your opinion appears prejudiced you assume mine is in truth. I find that last para insulting. Brexiteers had different reasons for brexit, you are seemingly assuming it was all for one reason. You need to understand humanity before you judge it imho, no offence intended.

the problem with democracy is that it can and was subverted. If illegal funding occurred, if propaganda occurred, if the fundamental question being asked was ambiguous. It was a deeply flawed referendum on many levels, so lets not just pretend it's "democracy" and you didn't like the outcome.....I didn't like the process.

I think we should park it there as it is you that does not like the outcome, not those that favoured the outcome or the process, ie the majority.

I wanted a labour government, hey tough ****, i support the outcome, thats democracy in action

A deeply flawed referendum is not what I would call democracy, albeit more democratic than our electoral system.

I've compromised my stance, if you want more, that's capitulation.

If you want me to ignore the illegal funding and lies that secured victory, and theft of moderate votes for "not leaving the single market", then that's subjugation. I'm not down with that, sorry.
Your opinion appears prejudiced
If you don't like my answer, it doesn't automatically make it prejudiced.

I find that last para insulting. Brexiteers had different reasons for brexit, you are seemingly assuming it was all for one reason.
Absolutely not, you totally misunderstand, that's a major assumption of my views and incorrect. My issue is they DIDN'T all vote for the same thing. Some voted for escape from laws but part of single market, some for complete disassociation. The sensible, stay in the single market view..their votes were stolen through a dishonest vote. So I'm glad you see that people expected different things, how can you justify someone voting to leave the EU but remain in the single market as they were repeatedly told having their vote used for an entirely different objective and outcome? Is that what democracy is?

I've just told you what I didn't like, and you accuse me of prejudice, if you are unable to read my comments and process them honestly then yes, maybe leave it there
