Question marks on the keeper there ?

Bettinelli has cost us goals, 3 so far. On what I have seen to date, I prefer Stojanovic of the 3, and he is far from perfect.

I really can not accept anyone seriously who thinks Pears commands his area, he doesn’t. He lacks height for me and looks weak on crosses. The jury is out on all 3 keepers and they all need game time. I think Pears needs experience on loan somewhere personally, to see if he can develop more rather than seeing if he can develop in our first team. Goalkeeping seems an area of neglect in football. Look at the amount Premier league teams pay for keepers and then see some of the woeful errors they make week in week out. It is an area where decisions need making though one way or the other

I'd put Stojanovic as my first choice as well.

He wasn't garbage against Bournemouth! Our fans are incredible. Spence and Tavernier were the best players we'd ever seen... now they're both dog turd. McNair was going to be driven out of here in someone's car, now he's a must play... same with Fletcher.

my fear as (with guzan) is that The opposition striker knows you will get a second go now if you shoot, so go for the follow up.

He was good against Bournemouth and made 2 top saves. To early to write him off. Think he will be decent once he gets in to the swing of things here.

Even after spilling it, he dived right to ensure the ball went in the net. He should have thrown himself forward to narrow the angle at least.

If you watch , Samuel tried to place the ball to where Bettinelli dived but Howson got a nick on it and it diverted the other way. Making him look silly but yes if he dives forward he wouldn’t of had that problem.

I don't agree that he spilled it. That would suggest that he had it in his hands and dropped it. He didn't. He got behind and parried a close range shot for which he was unsighted. The second ball could have gone anywhere and in any case he had no time to raise from the floor facing forward, and could only lever himself to the right and spread himself. Bad defending lead to the goal.

He was correct in diving right, that is where the striker was trying to place it. It was Howson's challenge that unluckily resulted in the ball going the other way.

MOTM v Bournemouth but, as has been mentioned, struggled in others, early days yes
I couldnt see the problem with the keeper we have who Woody signed last season to challenge Pears
That money could have been spent on a position we're crying out for

The biggest worry people seemed to have was on crosses, he, like most European goalies, liked to try and punch instead of catch. He wasn’t perfect, but for me is the best we have on what i have seen so far. He made some terrific saves and helped us get some important points for safety. He was criticised for Murphy’s goal If I recall, yet it deflected off Savills back and he had to re-adjust and it looped over him. He wasn’t at fault. It is early days for Bettonelli, hopefully he can iron a few mistakes out

He had a really good game vs Bournemouth

How? He cost us the goal against them with 2 poor prices of goalkeeping leading up to the goal and another tame effort beating him near post because he cant get down in reaction to it. He made a save where the ball was blasted at his legs where he didnt have to move then OK the save from I believe Lerma at the end was decent but any keeper at this level should save it was a good height and not much power granted he did have to get across his goal from memory but it's not worthy of giving him credit for to excuse his mistakes.

I think the words speak for themselves. Pears should be back in the team as we have signed 2 poor goalkeepers in the last 2 transfer windows.

Darren Randolph was head & shoulders above the backups but with the current lot I'd be hard pressed to pick a #1, they all seem much of a muchness and you could pick any of them depending upon how you feel at the time.

I'd favour Pears given his heritage & being a youth product but I think the shirt is open for someone to grab it.
