Query around wiring for a light fitting

Usual caveats apply etc turn electricity off yadda yadda

looking for a quick bit of help with how to match the wiring up on this new light fitting I've just bought from John Lewis. I need to sand and paint the ceiling first but wanting to install it Sunday

have a bog standard plastic rose in place atm;

Simple blue and brown wire. Can see the earth connection there too. Pulling it down further I get the following;

- clearer image with flash shows a little bit of red sleeving on the middle wire in the terminal

These are the light instructions and the new light fitting, plus there is a separate terminal on its own in the packaging

I think even though it's John Lewis the light is probably for American market as it's got white cables

I think I need...

The single extra block has the 2x live (red) cables from ceiling to the single block and no wire goes from that to the light. This will then complete the circuit for the ring

then for the light's main terminal block;

Black wire from ceiling to the the first row on the light (to the new lights black)
earth (green & yellow) - the middle row, fairly obvious
Switched live - black wire out of the ceiling with the little red part at bottom - the third row - which is white on there (I think US?)

but just wanted to confirm

The black wire currently connected to the brown wire of the light fitting is the switched live. The other black wire connected to the blue is the neutral.
There is no ring as such here or there would be 3 cables. Supply in and out and the third cable to a light switch. This is just two cables so looks like a spur supply and cable to light switch.

Difficult to see from the picture of the new light fitting but looks like black and white sleeve over brown and blue cable? If so connect switched live to brown and neutral to blue

It looks like the switched live is connected to the blue wire of the fitting. The switched live is the black wire with the red sleeving.
The other black wire is your neutral.
The red wires are supply in and supply to switch.

This is the best diagram I could find.

Yeah @That FrageranceGuy I think you got it, and above saying the same thing, I noticed the red sleeving straight away.

Just don't plug into the red which is doubled up :LOL:
