Quarantine Arrangements

Kay Burley just interviewed Housing Minister Simon Clarke on Sky News on governments planned 14 day quarantine for people entering the UK. - another car crash interview. How is it going to be enforced, who is going to enforce it - the police? can you go to the shops for food, how can F1 teams come in twice for GP’s? She asked him 20 questions he answered none. Essentially you have to be desperately unlucky or really stupid to be fined - another crazy policy being introduced months too late with no clear plans or strategy.

I saw that - it’s a poor day in politics when someone with the brains of Burley runs rings around you!

Its a sh1t fest of the highest order. Asked how people landing at the airport get to their olace of quarantine the answer is to take public transport if you must. Yes quarantine is an idea ill thought out and an example of a policy cobbled together for “show” rather than proper strategy.

They will find a way not to do this and will get a fantastic headline along the lines of
‘Johnson gives green light for summer holidays’
Job done

Only problem could be EU countries turning us back because of the risk to their citizens

Greece have already done that haven't they?

Yes they have - just wondering tho. Our holiday season doesn’t really kick off until July.
Lots can change.
I do believe he made the draconian decision to enable to make a great decision later.

This policy is pretty ridiculous given that in Europe Britain is now the worst country for COVID-19. It would have made some sense at the beginning of March.

A question from someone living abroad now: Are the figures for cases and deaths publicised daily there in Britain? We still find that when we talk to relatives in Britain that they have the impression that its all OK there and worse here in Spain. The opposite is the truth but nobody seems to know that. Every day here in Spain they have been announcing the number of new cases, hospital admissions and deaths on a daily basis since it all started. I think the figures had the effect of making people realise how important obeying the lockdown was. We had a really strict lockdown here and it has worked - we´ve had only a handful of deaths in the last week. I have the impression that they are almost hiding the truth there and determined to put a positive spin on everything.

The Times reporting that Johnson and the cabinet did not consult the senior Sage scientists before taking the latest quarantine decision
