Q we posed at the game today have you ever seen us play better than we are now

This is the best I have seen since 1973-74 in the second tier.
But let's be clear it is the second tier.

We won't win all 9 games. Neither will Sheffield Utd... It's going to be tight...

I dont think the 91/92 team get the credit they deserve

2nd place promotion
League Cup semi-finalists
FA Cup Fifth Round

Pears ... Steffan
Parkinson ... Smith
Phillips ... Giles
Mowbray/Kernaghan ... Lenihan
Mohan ... Fry
Proctor/Falconer ... Howson
Ripley ... McGree
Mustoe ... Hackney
Slaven ... Chuba
Wilkinson ... Archer
Hendrie ... Forss

I think it's hard to compare across football era's, but the football we are playing now is definitely the most complete I've seen.
In the past we've had some great individuals or extremely functional units, but this team is joyous to watch.
It's hard to compare as it's different eras and levels but the most complete team was the one the year we came 7th in the prem. Football has evolved a bit since then though, tactically it was different, no playing out from the keeper or such freedom of changing positions

The last time I seen a side this good was the Jonothan Woodgate side of 19/20.
For the first 45 minutes against Brentford I thought we'd cracked it and we were gonna storm the league.
The football we served up was beautiful.

Same season for not remembering when we'd lost at Home. We went on an insane run of 3 unbeaten before we were eventually stopped by a Very, Very good Sheffield Wednesday side under our legendary ex manager Gary Monk.

What a season that was! 17th in the league and we scored a whopping 48 goals.

Unforgettable

One or two above mentioned Big Jacks team.

I don’t want to tempt fate.

But in half a season this is the best second tier Boro team I have seen since Souness, Murdoch and co.

We need to keep quiet though until they are over the line.

Boro 4-1 United. Mendietta was world class and ran the show.

For me this team is playing better football than that. (albeit in a lower division)

We play like a championship Man City
Good comparison, especially today. We moved the ball easily down both flanks and through the middle. Preston didn’t know what had hit them and couldn’t cope. More of the same please for the last eight games.

Big Jack's side in 1973/4, I did mention a couple of days ago - It was quite defensive, but the goals flowed after promotion. I remember over 4 days we won 4-0 @ Fulham and then 4-0 @ WBA. Later that month we beat Sheff Wed 8-0.

That’s the team I fell for, when I properly got bitten by the Boro bug as a 13 yr old boy.
