Putting words into people mouths

Correct. "they got what they wanted"
I voted Brexit and didn’t get what i wanted. I didn’t want a Tory Government either, I called for a 2nd (confirmatory) referendum. A Norway style deal would have been more sensible than what we ended up with. I was hoping Labour would win the 2019 election to at least stop the agreed deal going through and bringing the risk of splitting the union like it has.

In my opinion, there is as much a case for saying that anyone who voted Tory at the last election saw to it that the Brexit deal was allowed to get over the line tbh, they are as responsible as anyone. I would sooner have had a Labour Corbyn Government and no Brexit than this shower and Brexit personally and I know a good few others that feel the same, and everyone knows my view on Corbyn.

Re read it. It's not a post saying "I voted Brexit and I wanted food shortages" is it? It doesn't even say "I voted Brexit".

So at best, another posters put words in other peoples mouthes and you've taken it and repeated it. Which is a little bit hypocritical given your complaints on this thread.

But I think its likely more accurate to say that the person who posted the message you were responding to, who said "they got what they wanted" probably didn't mean that food shortages were what they wanted. So really you're putting words in the mouthes of brexit voters and the person you were responding to. Which is even more hypocritical given this thread.

Anyway I've made my point now. As DCI Gene says its pointless going round and round on this.

Fair enough. At least you're abrexiteer who admits things aren't going right. My main frustration is with this who blindly defend it. despite all the issues. The food shortages thread is a good example. I was pretty shocked that people were so light hearted about food shortages and even in denial about them. That is taking defending brexit to the extremes.

Don't take it so seriously. My wife worked in the one of the most deprived schools and knows about bullying. I have been called: a liar, thick as mince, A Tory, ignorant, uneducated, a f wit, and that's only a few. It's a message board, a well run one as it happens. If I smell BS I tend to enjoy the fishing.
You know what, I've also been called those names, including more, but I just think I'm bigger than that, agree to disgaree mate

We really need to forget the mud slinging of remainers, brexiteers and understand we are where we are. The past can not be undone, blame gets nobody anywhere. There seems to be little anyone can do till the next election. Who knows where we will be by then or indeed if the union is even intact.

Labour needs to really try to persuade the centre ground they are electable and ready to govern with smart, sensible policies and their approach to the union, the EU and other international affairs. They need to dismiss the inevitable smears that will be bandied about with strong rebuffing and attack the failures of austerity and the Pandemic. Be strong on all public services and the economy. They need to seek to keep the left onboard even if it is to just oust the Government. It would be sensible to form a pact with the Lib Dems and Greens, but not the SNP imho. The aim should be for all parties to pull in one direction with one aim, to oust this Government.

Couldn't agree more with any of this. Part of the coming together most be that we accept there is a problem though

Everyone knows there are problems and accepts that there are problems, some directly to do with Brexit some not. We really should as a country put Brexit to bed and just seek solutions to problems whatever the cause and Labour needs sensible affordable costed policies that a majority of voters can accept and, attack the government on its many failings with their sensible plan to overcome them. Clear, concise messages that Joe public can relate to. Brexit should be kept well away from in discussions. The tories will try to use it to try to keep the division in red wall seats, Labour must keep it about solutions for UK problems and making life fairer and improved for all, including many traditional tory voters.

It wont be easy and I hope they are making a start as I suspect the PM might call a snap election before his promised public enquiry into the pandemic ever gets published.

This is where we disagree. We can't put brexit to bed. As a process it isn't finished and it's damaging the country. Until we start acknowledging this damage we won't do anything to repair it. People are blindly defending brexit now. To me that ignores the problems it has created and smacks of people wanting to allow the country to struggle just to prove themselves right somehow. The first step towards addressing a problem is to admit you have one in the first place.

We will just have to disagree, Brexit is done. The problems caused, such as the Irish border, are problems to be solved, just like knife crime is a problem and needs to be reduced and the streets made safer. The more Brexit is mentioned the more divisive discussions become, entrenches positions and stops solutions being found imho. We all want problems solved or at the very least improved on, we can only achieve this if we all come together without appointing blame either way. I‘ll leave our discussion there now I have given my thoughts.

That's all fair enough. I just feel we can't move on until we all admit there are issues. Whilst some deny issues are occurring its difficult to move on.

Brexit is a stupid thing for the country to have inflicted on itself, IMHO of course, but endless tedious threads berating and arguing with people on here isn't going to make any difference whatsoever.

My you got in there pretty quick bumface 😉
You can go even further bumface, let their phone instantly play cheesy pop songs 😁

Hope your well mate
I'm fine mate. Thanks for wishing me well. Hope your back is feeling a bit better. Mine is just about on the mend now as long as I keep active. Starts to hurt again if I sit in a chair for too long though. Think I've exhausted the poor dog by taking him on all of these really long walks over the last few days. I'm not sure about punishing people for bad behaviour on here by making them listen to your music Erimus. No offence meant here but that seems like a step too far for me. 'Cruel and unusual punishment' as they say. I'm a firm but fair make believe mod on here. I'm not some kind of heartless tyrant.
