Public urged to support Mouth Cancer Action Month

Local people are being urged to do their bit to support Mouth Cancer Action Month which started last Friday, November 1

The campaign is supported by The Look A Head Cancer Campaign and is being supported locally by The Teesside Charity.

Through November the campaign will support local people by distributing important information about mouth cancer symptoms together with toothpastes and toothbrushes.

Campaign secretary Pam Cooper said: “We have found it very effective to get our information out in mouth care packs through food banks.

“People using food banks often struggle with buying personal hygiene products.

“We are targeting some of the most vulnerable people in Teesside as, sadly, they are at greater risk of mouth cancer and other cancers in the head and neck.

“Smoking is also a major contributory factor.

“We are very grateful to The Teesside Charity for funding this project and also to our volunteers.”

The local campaign will run throughout November in Loftus, parts of Middlesbrough, Thornaby and Owton Manor in Hartlepool.

 
As someone who suffered with a Cancer in my neck, nothing to do with smoking or booze which is usually thought as the norm, i urge people to get behind this.
Typically its men over the age of 40 that are more at risk and its a growing number every year.
