Public Transport 4 Boxing day Match

Hoping to get train/bus from Darlo to the match - no go, nothing running unless anyone knows otherwise, 1 of us will have to drive. Not surprised tbh, but a bit disappointed.

When did they last have public transport on Boxing Day?
And yet, it's not unusual for Boxing Day home matches to have the biggest crowd of the season!

1. How many drink and drive?
2. What's the point of having public transport if it's so underused?

I don't ever remember a time when there was public transport on Boxing Day. Can anyone recall buses or trains on Dec 26th?

Public transport workers deserve time off with their families too. See lots of shops are on board with not opening boxing day now too for similar reasons.

Just remember to park properly and safely and please don't drink and drive. Not even worth risking just the one pint, police will be on it this weekend stopping people and testing them.

Nice one Randy, drink drivers are C***s

British transport is absolute garbage. Local transport is even worse.

Lots of people should be off but their terms and conditions dictate otherwise. Not sure why transport system does not run when lots of people are off and wish to use it.

Is public transport completely shutdown in Sunderland and Newcastle? I suspect they can still manage to odd bus, or perhaps keep the Metro running.

Teesside should have services. It's a bit stupid that nothing is available. I'll drive but might have considered a train if it was operating.

The transport system has been knackered for decades, all part of the privatisation nonsense that completely failed the country. It is an essential service and there should be transport running every day of the year.

However there hasn't been transport on Boxing Day for as long as I can remember yet the football games still go ahead and have their biggest gates of the season with folk returning home and popping to a local game. Maybe that's the answer for those wanting to watch a game, go to a local one.

TfL are running a Sunday service on the tubes & buses in London, because it is a well funded system, it is well used & people can rely on it.

Outside of London you are lucky if the buses run outside of peak times, no wonder everyone is so wedded to their car for short journeys.
