I just love how Carrick seems to make it his business to be there at these youngster first contract signings. It may seem a small thing but it says so much to me about Carrick as an individual.

In the past these have been presided over by people like Craig Liddle. No disrespect but it's a much more powerful message that the first team boss is showing an interest. It must also be hugely motivating for the kids involved too. Potentially something he's picked up from Sir Alex who always seemed to do this sort of thing too, but it's great to see.

Totally agree with this mate. Can you just imagine not just signing your first ever pro contract but having Michael - been there done that, done the lot in fact - Carrick standing at your shoulder.

I bet he's an unbelievable inspiration to the whole squad of players from 1st team right down the ranks.

I agree it’s a huge thing not just as our manager but he’s most likely one of their idols as well.

Surely a massive boost for these youngsters to have someone of Carricks standing actually showing an active interest in them.
