Private eye cover

Genius from private eye.

Whether it's accurate and/or fair or not (and let's be honest, it's not far off the mark), anyone accusing that of being anti-semitic is making their point for them.

Well played.
Exactly, like shooting fish in a barrel though, it was utterly predictable that people would start to accuse them.

What I’d say to those people is give me an example of a situation that the Israeli government can be criticised without it being classed as anti-Semitic.

Indeed. The charge of antiSemitism has, through constant conflation and improper use been so diminished that it hardly has meaning anymore. When Corbyn objected to the examples in the EHRC report (but not to the report itself) this is exactly what he was talking about.
Now anyone who criticises the conduct of a country or a member of a religion is labeled antiSemitic. Of course Zionists love this because it gives them carte blanche to carry on. They don't care if it endangers innocent Jewish people as long as they get their own wicked way.

I'm not going to pretend that I can put myself in the shoes of a community who have the footprints of persecution entwined within their DNA, but I find this kind of bandying about of anti-semitism really troubling.

I actually saw this first because of the David Baddiel tweet below. I've learned a lot from some of his work within the 'Jews Don't Count' book and TV but I just can't see this one. Perhaps I couldn't without his lived experience.

It’s a poor take by Baddiel. The article is clearly addressing the Israeli government hiding atrocities behind bogus anti-Semitic claims.

If arguing against the vengeful murdering of Palestinian civilians is anti-Semitic, then f..k it I’ll wear my anti-Semitic badge with pride because I’m not gonna allow anybody to stop me saying the Israeli governments behaviour is wrong now and has been wrong for a very long time.

Baddiel's twitter feed is nothing but bad takes. He does more damage than most, to the struggle against AS.

Yeah, I think it's always good to challenge our own views, put ourselves into the position of others etc and am wary of things like confirmation bias. I know @Lefty is big on this kind of thing.

But if Baddiel has a point (and he may do, but on the face of it, I agree with you. I don't see it) he's going to have to expand a lot on that.

Because I don't see it as saying "moaning Jews" at all, in fact that's quite a leap. Many many Jews are as disgusted as I am with their far right government.

This isn't really criticism of Israel even. It's criticism of their populist government in my mind. But clearly Baddiel sees it differently. I would like to know a lot more about why he thinks that's not fair and how they should be criticised if not in this way. Assuming he thinks they deserve criticism of course.

(Personally I think criticism is too mild. Condemnation would be better).

David Baddiel is a wan.ker as well as totally not funny.
He and Rachel Riley are huge defenders of Israel and are constantly throwing antisemitism remarks in response to just about any criticism of Israel.
She would still get it, though. But I would insist that she didnt talk

Sadly Tony Husband a Private Eye cartoonist of some renown died in tragic circumstances a couple of days ago.
Ben Houchen's diary is missing from the current issue.
There's nothing wrong or anti-Semitic about that cover.

"suggesting that it will lead to Jews Israeli government supporters throwing all their toys out of the pram and having massive hissy fits like the touchy privileged whiners they are." I can get behind as being accurate. Otherwise it looks like a tendency to interpersonal victimhood.

Baddiel is a talentless idiot.
