Priority points no longer allocated for MFC travel

Agree, it was a bit silly to award fans who used their coaches.

Another point regarding the MFC travel - how on earth do they charge so much?

It was over £30 for a 50seater to Spurs in the cup a couple of months ago. The profit off that must be huge - all at the expense of our supporters. It certainly doesn't cost well over a grand to pay for 2 drivers, fuel, insurance and other motoring expenses (tax, wear & tear etc) to go to London & back!

I've seen other clubs offer the same service far cheaper. Didn't Spurs charge about £10 for the same trip?

Incredible.

I tend to use MFC travel when I go to an away game but totally agree with this decision.

If they were running it maybe, but do they contract it out?

We used to run minibusses for nights out in Leeds in 2003-2008. It would cost £12 a head to go to Leeds and back from 7pm-3am and that was 12 years ago.

obvs unsociable hours, but that’s just down the road and no parking was needed as a small bus. A larger bus, longer distance plus parking, administering ticket sales and profit margin, I can see how it adds up - but arranging your own is always going to be cheaper.

Without doubt costs add up.

But the simple fact is....the overall costs for a 50 seater to London and back don't add up to anywhere near £1,000.

If Spurs can charge around £10 per person. Then so can we. To charge over £30 per head is just pure greed by the club.

Often on the long distance games they only take 1 bus which is sometimes just over half full so probaby make losses on those trips which are possibly recouped by the pricing of the shorter journeys.

The reason it costs so much is because Compass can levvy a far higher charge for their coaches and drivers than individual coach hires.
This has been confirmed by one of the Fans Forum who regularly hires coaches.
If you think back several years Compass was replaced by Tees Valley - this was after fans had been pressing for change for a number of years. Compass then offered independent travel against Tees Valley. Unfortunately a couple of seasons on Tees Valley went bust mid season. In fact the timing could not have been more disastrous as it was only a few days before Sunderland away. That was a year when the police wanted nearly everyone to go up by coach in a convo. Compass stepped in at really short notice and saved the day. No one else is able to offer the flexibility they can through the season but it comes at a price. And after the one coach company going to wall mid-season the club might also be forgiven for not wanting to experiment again. Compass charge the club far more for guaranteeing a season long service, mid weeks, short haul, long haul, one coach or several coaches. Boro charge an admin charge but it isn't that significant as part of the fee.

We should be looking for a new coach. Chris Houghton would do. Hopefully his PowerPoint presentation skills are up to scratch!
