Its those below the Premiership, especially in Divisions 3 and 4 [lets say it like it really is] who face the biggest issues:
Not only do clubs experience the eccentricities of dubious owners [like the former owners of Bolton, Bury and Notts County] but they rely far more on the gates to keep their clubs going. Without fans through the turnstyles they are knackered.
Fans wont just lie down and roll over. The existing structure of football is geared to following the money, with the private company which is the Premier League swallowing almost all of it. Sustainability will only come when the clubs themselves take back control from the out-of-touch EFL:
* So far they havent helped clubs outside the Premiership by negotiating a decent deal for TV broadcasting rights.
* The "fit and proper" test is a scam - the EFL havent the balls to take action until its too late. Ask Bury fans.
* The EFL play second fiddle to the Premiership - like a dog sniffing at the table waiting for the scraps after the big boys banquet.
I dont have a template for the new order, but it will have to emerge - and very quickly - if clubs are to sustain themselves - or go out of business altogether before the end of 2020.
