Premier League and EFL to be suspended until weekend of 4th April

EFL as well. Interesting. Not sure why 4 April as it's too early based on predictions announced by Boris et al yesterday that it'll be May before the peak.

Don’t be fooled into thinking they know what they’re doing. The Arsenal manager has the virus so now everything’s different.

They'll review on the 4th of April, rather than immediately resume matches.

I agree, it's surely going to be postponed until the summer.

Atypical - they were already planning several scenarios at the start of the week. It is a really difficult decision to make. And yes they will have to make another in a couple of weeks time. But it is totally unprecedented and so many factors to weigh up but everyone's safety comes top.

Everything, not just football, has to be taken out of the Governments hands. They don't know what they're doing.

They might be saying 4th April at the moment, but they’ve basically just announced the cancellation of the season. It is predicted to be worse, not better, by April and there will be more restrictions in place by then.

Statement from the EFL: "The FA, Premier League, EFL and Barclays FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship have collectively agreed to postpone the professional game in England until 3 April at the earliest.
"This action, which will be kept under constant review, has been taken due to the increasing numbers of Clubs taking steps to isolate their players and staff because of the COVID-19 virus.
"The postponements include all matches in the Championship, League One and League Two, as well as all Academy and youth team fixtures.
"In addition, clubs are being advised to suspend indefinitely all non-essential activities which include, but are not limited to, player appearances, training ground visits and fan meetings.
"Whilst the EFL Board has continued to take the advice and guidance offered by the Government and its health advisors, emerging developments mean now is the time to implement football’s contingency plans in response to the crisis.
"A further update on these plans will be given post an EFL Board Meeting next week.
"This decision has not been taken lightly, but the EFL must prioritise the health and well-being of players, staff and supporters while also acknowledging the Government’s national efforts in tackling this outbreak."

I know that Rob. But its all just finger in the air. I wouldn't actually expect them to know what to do, given that nothing like this has happened before.

‘Yeah Dani is about 3/4 weeks away’

...................... and about 1200 miles away in Bilboa, Spain.

Sensible decision, the problem is going to be what happens if we ever get to a point to restart- if we don't there will be serious problems down the line for the Premier League and EFL with clubs looking at promotion and relegation. Norwich may stay up and gain an additional £200m with Leeds and West Brom losing out, that can't be right however with Liverpool's behaviour in the past and their behaviour in acting like spoilt school kids when Madrid beat them I'm more than happy to see them lose the opportunity; justice for their fans behaviour stopping Everton in 1985.
