Haha, yep.

Read the other day that United still "need" an elite defensive midfielder, Kieran Trippier and a top level understudy for Pogba.

FFS lads you've just signed Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Rafael Varane.

All for less money than Arsenal have spent so far this summer.

Is there any footage of Bennett actually training?

I read somewhere 'he's in full training' or 'training with the first team squad' but he did his ACL a couple of months after Browne who isn't expected to be 100% till October-ish.

Browne is in 'full training' doing rehab and is running and building back up his running/turning in sand, but was 5 weeks away from grass work on his last injury update on the MFC site.

Obviously there can be different levels of tears/detachment/repair surgery, but I just don't see how he can be back in full training after having ACL surgery in March?

Obviously it is in his and his agents interest to say he's 100% fit, it just seems a long shot. Unless it was a really minor ACL tear & repair so he doesn't have to rebuild his knee strength?

But weren't Cardiff offering him a contract till he was injured? Why don't they want him if he's fit, he was playing regularly for them too wasn't he?

Bennett had said himself that he'd started full contact training on August 22nd, so presumably there will be a period from then until he'd be what anyone would consider fully fit. Sounds like McCarthy will let him train there until he gets another club, but has effectively moved on.

Article below from a Wales news site.

Just seems odd they rated him so highly and now don't want him at all, I suppose it could be sour grapes as he rejected their first offer. But there can't be too much bad blood as he's still there training with them. As a back up on a small contract I'd be in favour if he's fit to provide cover, not if he's not going to be 100% for another month or two. I suppose as a free we can wait a while after the deadline and have a good look at him.

Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman has revealed the club remain locked in crunch talks with Joe Bennett and Sol Bamba as time begins to run out for deals to be struck.

Bennett and Bamba have been at Cardiff for five years and have grown to become favourites among the fan base, but find themselves out of contract this summer.

But there is a growing concern among Bennett's supporters that the left back, who Dalman believes is the best in his position in the Championship, could leave upon the expiry of his contract this summer.

The 31- year-old was back to playing his best football under Mick McCarthy, having slotted seamlessly into that left wing-back role, but crumpled to the ground in agony after sustaining a knee injury in the 4-0 win over Derby back in March.

Having undergone surgery, the best prognosis seems to be that he will miss at least the first month of next season, but that timescale could be longer.

However, the player's future remains up in the air, with a new contract having already been rejected by Bennett before his injury. Dalman insists they will continue their negotiations over the coming weeks.

"There are a number of players whose contracts are coming to an end," Dalman told the BBC.

"Joe Bennett is one of them. We like Joe Bennett, he has been a great servant to the club.

"I actually think he is the best left-back in that league and he has been, I think, for the last couple of seasons – if not longer.

"Unfortunately, we tried to negotiate a deal with him, we couldn't reach an agreement and then the injury happened.

"We have a duty of care and we continue to dialogue with Joe and see if we can find a solution.

I think we need a left-sided defender and a striker. Unless a top target has become available late on and the club are able to do it then I'd rather we kept our powder dry until later on. All of this talk of four or five incomings and several outgoings is quite unsettling, IMO. Bidwell or the equivalent and the Slovenian striker and we should be good to go.
