Posters on this forum that NEVER make a post about Boro or even football

Who is being referred to?

Could be me.

I rarely post about football or the Boro. I probably make more posts on cricket threads than football and I definitely post more on music, especially live music threads, than Boro.

I'm philosophical about the Boro and their wins, defeats, style of play these days. That comes with age. Plus football is all about opinions and preference. I reckon there are plenty of people more knowledgeable about footy than me, so I usually just enjoy reading opinions. I don't often get annoyed on football matters to post, for those reasons.

Over the years I've even only generally been an occasional poster on politics/current affairs, because I'm usually not that well informed on an issue and just as importantly I am able to appreciate I probably aren't.

There have been three exceptions to this.

The first was Margaret Thatcher and the Miners Strike. My attendance at a Billy Bragg gig at the Durham Miners Gala many years ago led to me looking into this in depth. So I tend to get annoyed when ignorant Thatcher worshippers spout off about her. The Miners Strike research had a few other spin off's such as the Falklands.

The second was the legality of the second Gulf War. I took the time to read Philippe Sands excellent book on the subject and the various other chapters on International Law which led to more in depth research.

The third was Brexit, which I went into in a lot of detail and probably became about as informed as a layman can get.

All three issues are ones I was relatively unbiased about at first, but curiousity led to research, which led to being more informed, probably well informed, a position reached and a stance taken, including giving my support in spirit, financially and in person for campaigns and protests. This country would be in a much better position had those campaigns been successful, that I do know.

Thanks for the clarification

Thanks for the clarification

I will add that although there are plenty of people who are bigger die hard Boro fans than me, I went as a child during the Charlton and the Neal era's dependent on there being an adult to take me, but the period I chose to start going regularly were the seasons leading up to the gates being shut. That was when I chose to spend my time and pocket money trying to support my local club, my local rubbish team, heading into the third tier and out of business. Me and only about 6,000 others. From then on the only home games I missed were those I couldn't get to, with the sole exception of when Gaskins burnt down as I was still in the pub at kick off and had been the one to spot the fire starting. In the heights of the Robson years and European glory I used to get on an 18 seater minibus that was rammed every week, with kids and even adults having to sit on peoples knees to get on. By the time we got to Strachan we were down to a 7 seater, by the end of the Strachan era it was a normal taxi and by the time of Mowbray there was only one still going week in week out. Me. So although many of you might be more knowlegeable and passionate than me these days, I'm not having it that I'm not really a Boro fan because really there can't be that many of you that have been that much better.

Just saying, in case the the OP or anyone else did think it was me that was alluded to.

Oh dear, HundredRoom posts a backfiring thread once again.

The poster formerly knows as Clive Road Stamper sure does know how to get his fantastic personality across on the forum I’ll give him that.
Also the poster formerly known as onthemap:mad:

This threads going to run and run!

Despite not posting about football does he have football in his name?

Lefty its not you mate hes talking about

I can't keep track of who's who. Well, I say I can't keep track, I probably could, I just don't want to. I prefer just dealing with the posts on a particular thread/subject because you can form opinions of a poster and project other characteristics/views that they may not hold. Not every Brexiter was anti freedom of movement, for example. A whole 7% were very much pro everything Single Market in fact.

Hard to fathom why the original poster felt the need to make his original post. I'm not sure who it was aimed at but so what if he never posts about Boro/Football. There are many who lurk and don't contribute, it's no problem.

His post has back fired on him as he seems to be equally culpable of not posting a great deal about Boro/Football in his 1100+ posts.

Perhaps it's some sense of inadequacy that makes him feel the need to try and make an unprovoked attack on a fellow board member. Perhaps his ego needed inflating a touch so the keyboard warrior in him comes out.

In the heat of debate we all say something that perhaps we shouldn't or is misconstrued because the meaning or logic doesn't come across as it was meant when typed out. We can disagree but there's no need to fall out, certainly no need to try and provoke someone with an antagonistic post. Sadly he's not alone in doing that.

Whatever, he's made himself look daft.
Don't take yourself so seriously.
Attack ? What are you on about. Its an observation. There are a few political only posters on here. As you say so what.

But you seem to have gone overboard on attacking me directly with a barrage of abuse. I attacked no particular poster by name..
As I said in the op. Why use a footy message board to push a political agenda. Its a very limited audience, and will change nothing in the big scheme of things.
Have a nice day

Then why bring up an individual person's posting history to ask a question that could have been asked without doing it?

Why not use a regional football message board to voice an opinion on subjects raised on said board?

If the person you've spent time researching for the benefit of the OP had a similar view point to you then this thread wouldn't exist.

It's nothing more than a pathetic attempt to troll.

It's obviously Smalltown he's referring to. If you don't like his posts, you can ignore. Putting up a sly OP to have a pop without even naming him is unbecoming and does you no favours.

For myself, ST is fine. He likes a debate and will back up his point and carry on far longer than I would but so what? I've never had a falling out with him. If you don't like someone's posts, it's quite simple, don't read them.

You clearly were having a dig at someone without being brave enough to name them. If it wasn't an attack why start and make the original post worded the way you did, clearly having a pop at a fellow board member?

"But you seem to have gone overboard on attacking me directly with a barrage of abuse." - Really? You must be very a delicate soul if you think that's a barrage of abuse. Other than saying you made yourself look daft I never abused you in any way. I used the word "perhaps" to question some motives but that's not abuse.

"As I said in the op. Why use a footy message board to push a political agenda." - in that case why did you bother starting the thread?

"Have a nice day" - thanks, I will, I rarely don't. Same to you.

We'll you certainly are Lefty, that's a cracking CV there 👍

Thiugh for me you can still be a Boro fan whether you attend all the time, now & again, or just listen to the Boro on the radio, we're all fans

I love a debate as well but draw the line at bullying
