Positives

Makes it a ridiculous decision to not have Akpom involved from the start of pre season.

- Giles in an attacking sense was excellent
- Akpoms hold up and link up play was great
- Howson started to dictate the midfield second half
- Forss workrate, movement and a goal
- Crooks off the mark for the season
- our second half control and creativity, we really had them on the rack
- McNair and Fry to come into that defence
- 2 CFs coming up

Yes it’s good to see Crooks off the mark so early. He’s a proper goalscoring midfielder and always a place for him in this team. Akpom performance was the surprise and for me he’s genuinely played himself into the team. Barnsley midweek is a perfect time for him to get on the score sheet ideally and boost his confidence even more

Crooks has went 2 matches without a booking, a minor miracle in itself.

He only needs to last another 17 games to avoid the 5 yellow card suspension.

Only our fans could see a sending off of one one of our players as a positive. It’s never a positive. Lenihan is a very good player and will prove that, it’s been a tough start admittedly but Christ let’s get of his back. He’s playing alongside 2 lads in a 3 man defence who are natural fullbacks in a new team with a new goalkeeper behind them. We need time to gel.
Incredible isnt it. There was a lot of poor displays today but thinking fry has either the quality or leadership to change a whole teams performance is ridiculous.

We are seeing the same issues as last season that are costing us goals and points. Teams breaking through us too easily, not retaining possession and a keeper making an error.

The midfield needs reshaping massively otherwise whether its fry or lenihan we are screwed.

Yes that midfield 3 just doesn’t work. And the defence will struggle and be exposed if we don’t get some players and sort that midfield out sooner than later. Tav is a massive miss. People will see it now. Was the best player at the club, my a mile aswell

Completely agree. He was pivotal. It was howson we needed to upgrade.

It's great cos we now have 10 mil to invest in someone better who can take a better corner 🙄

I didn’t watch the game as I was at the races, but looking at the starting 11 my first thought was how is Bola starting ahead of McNair and how has he dropped Akpom and kept Watmore.

Recruitment has been a disaster this season, given how many games are played before the end of the transfer window.

To be honest I found the decision to sign Lenihan a strange one at the time.

Fry was excellent for us last season, so for me it would have made more sense to have kept either Bamba or Peltier as back-up for Fry and focus all our attention on signing a LCB.

It's early days so hopefully Lenihan will come good, and if Wilders' long-term plan is for Fry and Lenihan to compete for the CB position then fair enough, but it's a worry that we've started the season and we all seem to have different opinions as to who should be playing in each centre-back role.
Preston away put paid to that last season
