Portugal v Germany.

Impressed by the way they switch the play. Several times last night we had Shaw in acres of space out on the left and instead of playing a ball across to him we tried to play our way out of tight areas and made it easy for Scotland.

If france beat portugal by 2+ goals they would be on 3 points with a negative goal difference. Cant see that being enough this year
agreed I think Portugal are in trouble. I said prior to the first game that this group could mean one of them go out.

Feel like VAR is so much more efficient in the Euros than it is in the Prem or am I kidding myself? Last night I feel that the Sterling 'penalty' would have been given by VAR in the Prem (wrongly IMHO). The application of VAR in the Prem is a 'divers charter'.
Spoke too bloody soon ......... justice, thankfully.

Didn't I hear the commentators say that from July the offside determination will be from the shoulder? I'm sure the PL's interminable wait to find where a strikers big toe is will be behind the modifications 😉
I'll also admit that I thought Stirling had won a penalty, probably conditioned by what has happened in the PL.

Good goal Ronaldo offside in the buildup though
That's not how the offside law works, though. It doesn't matter where the player was at some earlier point, it only matters where they were when the ball was actually played to them.

That's a slight mischaracterization of what's happening. There is no real change in this regard for the coming season.

There was a new ruling that already came into force this season, on which part of the arm is considered for handling offences. This was already being used for the purposes of offside during the 20-21 season. You could clearly see this in some of the VAR reviews that we saw last season.

The only change for next season is that the same wording currently used in Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct, will now also be included in Law 11 - Offside.

The application of the law will be the same as it already is.
