I think that on all those dates the playoff finals were shown as being over the weekend without specific dates for each of the the three matches. Of course this doesn't mean that this page did not show different information on other days that it was not crawled by the internet archive.

And of course other websites, such as clubs, could have shown different information.
The Boro programme the last 2 matches said the Monday. So it definitely was originally on that day.

So do some people think loads of people just booked travel and hotels on the off chance it might be on the Monday?
No I think people looked at a website that made a bad assumption and thought the info had come from the EFLs site when it hadn’t.

The post above shows what the website was showing and it showed the 3 dates without saying which was on what date, going back to the end of July.

Edit it seems the end of last season their site had the Monday date on it albeit 10 Months ago, which is probably where some of the other sites that had the Monday had got it from.

Since the start of this season the EFL hasn’t shown the dates though which was what I’d been trying to say all evening.

I book hotels at the start of every season, based on what the EFL website says. It changed.

Last September I also booked a 12-night holiday for the family flying out on the Tuesday 30th, knowing there was a chance we’d be in the play off final on the Monday.

I wasn’t guessing, it was all there on the internet in black and white.

As it turns out I’ll still be able to go but will have to take both young sons to London with me which isn’t ideal. The missus is away that weekend and had always planned to be back on the Sunday night.

Going back to the 10th August.

No, not the end of last season.
The fixtures were published in June, including the Play off final dates.
Like many people I posted all the dates in calendar. I always do.
Once in my calendar and without comms changing the date, why would I believe it had changed - or become opaque.
As others have said, there were so many other sites that were consistent with Monday and the comms when fixtures were released.

Seems I wasn't wrong after all.

And yet I wasn’t wrong either.

Jesus Christ.

Pages and pages of squabbling and ‘I’m right you’re wrong’ over what specific date the EFL updated their website with details about a game in a competition we might not even be playing in.

IF we make it, the game is on the Saturday. Get on with it.

If you’ve been stupid enough to risk booking non refundable hotels/trains for a game that we might not even be playing in, that’s on you.

Are you mitigating claims against you, as you left it late to inform everybody else on your inside knowledge? 😂
It’s not squabbling. Priv thinks he is right but he is wrong, as pointed out by a dozen other people.

Ps. We won’t even be involved in the game. UTB

You didn't have to read it.
I didn't book non refundadable travel or accommodation for obvious reasons, but would not be so smug with those who mistakenly have.
Many have made arrangements for the saturday, that will now cause upset in missing/cancelling.
Even our own club have been recently communicating the final as monday.

Interesting case study of the post-truth world this. In what is essentially a discussion over an issue of fact (did the EFL website change and if so when) only one person has actually tried to post any evidence, and he’s been dismissed on the basis that the rest think that how loud you shout “no, you’re wrong” is what matters.

Like most, I was certain that I could remember the EFL website saying Monday until a few weeks ago at the most. In the face of evidence to the contrary, and in the absence of any counter evidence, I guess I was wrong.

How was I wrong, I said for the last few months the date wasn’t on the EFL site, just the weekend dates. That was proven to be correct. The EFL website has not shown a date since July last year before this season even started.

Yes some may of looked when the fixtures where released such as Indeedio and they were hard done by but those saying they’ve looked recently were clearly mistaken or looking at a different site not the EFLs.

I appreciate your heads up.
I was actually tipped the wink a week or so before you posted on here.
However, I booked my TOTALLY REFUNDABLE hotel room back in August based on what the EFL website said at the time. Three of us in a family room from Sunday to Monday was £200.
I had faith back then!
I also knew the risks and mitigated with a refundable room.

Booking on the same remit from Friday to Sunday, only a few weeks ago, is now touching £400, which I am sure is still cheaper than waiting until the results of the play offs have actually been made official.

So the morale of this story is people have gambled cash and quite probably virtual cash to now find ourselves in a position, where regardless of intentions, we now find ourselves out of a ‘virtual’ pocket.

Let’s not be bolshy here. It’s p00 cr4p whichever way you paint it

I'm right - you're wrong...Jeeeeeez.
Anyhow, I booked my hotel for Fri night just last week, refundable obvs.
Let's hope we go up in the top 2.
