Play offs still on?

Losing the plot two weeks ago I had us relegated now I am thinking of promotion ffs :)
Absolutely crazy isn’t it…..🤷‍♂️
I’m so massively excited about Carricks impact on the chaps I can’t sleep (!)
Really be so interesting to see how we cope with Norwich come Saturday because we’ll be flying but they are a good team!

I honestly think the championship title is up for grabs, never mind the play offs….but then the PL clubs will be sniffing around MC 🙈

7 points gap at present.

But its 7 points to close on a lot of clubs.
We've got this game, plus another 4 in December. Lets see where we are then. If we are within 5 points of the play offs come January then why not. If we are still 7 or more points behind at that stage, then it will be slipping away again. Away form now seems to be coming together with 3 wins in 4 games, but we need to get the Riverside back to being a win zone, it's 1 win in 6 at the riverside. Maybe the little world cup break will help brush the cobwebs away, a point at Norwich then the Luton game will be massive in a month.

Playoffs isn't at all likely this season. We would need a really, really good run to get to touching distance and then would need a really, really good run after that to stay there. There's more likely to be a regression to the mean. We're way too far back for promotion to be likely. It's not impossible but it's extremely unlikely.

We need 51 points from our remaining 26 games to match last season's 6th placed team which is nearly 2 points per game. That's the form needed to win the league and we are not a league winning calibre team.

It's nice to dream but I'll be satisfied with a midtable finish this season, as long as we get to the end of the season feeling as though the team has an identity, and something to build on.

We've played two poor sides these last two games and come away with four points. Not trying to put a dampner on things, as it was a good performance last night and we could take some positives out of the Bristol City game, but some much tougher challenges to come, starting this Saturday away at Norwich.

More than happy to see out the season consolidating in midtable, then freshen up the team for next season, fingers & toes crossed fighting at the right end

I believe anything is possible in this league but we still have a relatively small squad so while that exists then we’re very vulnerable.

However, to push for a playoff berth I think we’ll need better players in during the window. You can’t argue with the transformation under Carrick which definitely shows a massive change in what we’ve experienced under Wilder.

Even when Wilder was doing well I cannot recall a game when I saw our midfield as dominant force as they’ve been in the last few games.

It’s early days mind you but there’s no denying that Carrick’s setup and philosophy has had a major effect on how each one of the first team is playing. Let’s hope it continues and gets better.

Start to the season has killed that unfortunately. We’re too far back and have lost too many games. Too many teams to overtake.

Let Carrick build, get used to his surroundings further, identify weaknesses for Jan/Summer, a top half finish would be nice, then we push on next year and try again.

I wouldn't base the likelihood on last night's performance.

They were depleted and never any threat. We looked a lot better and it's largely the same squad as last year.

As said above, seven points is not the issue. It's the number of teams above us that we'd have to simultaneously outperform.

it would be quite an accomplishment.

I would disagree is largely the same squad

Hackney

That’s 7/11 players who were no where near or 6/11 if you class smith

Confidence was shot about 4-5 weeks ago, I would be happy just staying in the division now, however if we can play like that most weeks regardless of the opposition I think we may be there or there abouts. You can see the smiles returning to their faces it was not a happy camp, plus the emergence of young Hackney and a rejuvenated Chuba so happy for him personally. UTB
