Pitch Invaders

Where are the posters who usually come out to their defence and say stop moaning they’re just kids?
These ones weren't just kids. The kid at the last game wasn't able to get anywhere near the pitch and was held down very aggressively by a steward who didn't go anywhere near these two until they were on the floor. They should never have been able to get all the way around the pitch without being stopped.

That was kind of my point. The same posters always come out and say 'oh they're just kids' when they really aren't, and even if they were kids, they still shouldn't be doing it.

There's definitely a difference between kids jumping on who don't understand the consequences. And adults off their face like those two last night. There's little danger to the players from a 10/11 year old but a lot from a 17+ year old.

Last night kind of confirmed (to me at least) that the child was only treated how they were last week because the stewards knew they couldn't fight back. The way the same stewards involved last time just stood and watched those two run around the entire pitch really annoyed me.

But anything those two got was deserved last night. I just wish that the stewards were as willing to be heavy handed with adults running on the pitch as they seem to be with children!

Also noticed a guy in a heated debate with a steward in the north stand at the end of the match
I noticed that as well, stood in the stewards face wagging his finger and threatening him.

Looked like his young un wanted to take a swing at the steward as well. I have no idea what went on, but the steward seemed to do a decent job de-escalting the situation.

Aye, we spotted that too. Some fat chav basically threatening an older looking steward. Fair play to the steward for keeping his cool as I was sure he was going to get punched. Couldn't believe it when the young lad started getting aggressive as well, he looked about 10 from where we were!

I couldn't be arsed at all being a steward. The amount of scrotes going to games seems to be higher than ever.

If it continues I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the first few rows in the north and the south covered with netting or banners.

What good would that do? Stairs and walkways would still be unobstructed. The scrotes could still get access to the pitch.

People always need to be able to easily access the pitch in case of emergency. Many of us are from the generation of football fans that saw mass tragedy at Bradford and Hillsborough. The pathway to escape onto the pitch can never be blocked.

A load of silly nonsense.
Did warnings and the promise of banning stop those two young men last night?
Do you expect fences and barriers to prevent people from doing what they shouldnt?
Why do you suggest the vast majority of law-abiding people should suffer for a few?
Did you see those Sunderland fans climbing over the netting towards the East Stand at the recent match?
Fat lot of good that did.
What would you do with all those who stand up at the back of the North Stand?
What would you do to the South Stand - because we all stand up?

Use dogs?
Water canon.
Stun guns?
I`ve seen that in Lima.
In the Estadio Nacional there was a pit around the pitch.
That was surrounded by an eight-foot barbed fence.
There were armed para-military police with the dogs.
Like something from the era of Pinochet or the Nazis.
That all changed when the Dictator Fujimori was deposed in 2000.
That should tell you a lot.

Fences with roll-spikes didnt stop people getting onto the pitches when ordinary fans were contained like cattle.
It didnt stop Bernie hanging over the fence in the Holgate when he scored!

Should he have been arrested for climbing on the fence?
Perspective!
Really important.

I think Leo should speak to them..

Imagine Leo telling you he was disappointed in you? Wouldn’t sleep for a week!!
Perhaps he should get them to help clean the bogs in the South Stand and help doing some painting and maintenance to give them an investment in the club?
They might respect the club a little more?

What the hell are you ranting on about?

I haven't "suggested" any such measure, nor would I welcome one. I just said I wouldn't be surprised to see something like that introduced.

Its a short hop down the road from talking about banners and barriers - back to steel fences and barbed spikwes.
If I have telegraphed your comments - I apologise.
