Just reading up about Philogene at Hull.
£5m permanent summer signing from Villa - Villa have a £15m 'first dibs' buyout clause.
This only triggered if both teams in same division. Apparently even a future salary for the player is fixed.
These clauses seem to be getting more prevalent don't they (eg, Archer at Sheff U for example, Greenwood with us)?
Hull explain the deal here
Such deals may have been around for a long time - or is Villa's legal team trying to be clever?
Certainly Clubs seem to be being a bit more open about details in these deals.
The Club getting the loan does seem to be getting a 'competitive advantage' as mentioned by the Hull City chap.
But there are so many variables in footie surely a legal disagreement will be just around the corner.
Also Hull might be getting a first mover advantage here but does it mean rich Clubs are just getting more power overall.
Perhaps this is inevitable anyway (unfortunately)
