Phil Meadows captures the essence of Ayresome Park. His paintings recreate the Boro characters, the redbrick townscape, the gadgies, a lost Teesside backlit by the four Ayresome floodlights. They are conversation starters, trigger points, half forgotten memories springing back into the 21st century.
Phil Meadows exhibition runs until September 2020 at Heritage Gallery, Cargo Fleet. Open Monday - Friday, 8.30am until 2.00pm (currently), check website for updates.

What a misery.
Please do drop in and see this exhibition - there were several sales on the first day. Prints and even originals might just be more affordable than some commercial Boro artists. There is a lot of humour in Philip's paintings. Ayresome Park humour you might say.

I dropped my car off for a service at Ford and wandered along to the Cargo Fleet offices for a coffee and had a look at the gallery. Some of the pictures are brilliant and he does capture what Ayresome was like, in my mind anyway. The little kid standing and his view being totally blocked by the adults around him rang true with me!
I can see the reason for DCI's comment but that doesn't stop them being great pieces of art for a Boro fan. I think they'd nicely compliment Thorpe's work.

Art is about opinions. We are allowed to express them. You may walk around with your rose tinted glasses on never wanting to be even remotely critical of anything to do with Middlesbrough, the town itself, the club etc etc but some of us aren't quite so blinkered.

There maybe humour in PM's paintings but they are still derivative.
