I really hope he has a good tournament but I'd like to think any attempt to emulate other players, or nostalgic nods to Euro 96 from anyone in the squad, starts and ends here. They need to be their own players.

I can confidently say if Foden reaches 57 caps for England (and I think he'll easily surpass this as long as he stays injury free) then he'll easily surpass Gazza's record of 10 goals.
What's he on now? 2 from 6 caps?
When Foden's career has ended, the comparison between him and Gazza will be comical at best.

Gazza in the papers this morning saying he wants Foden to do the 'dentist's chair' if he scores. Lets not get silly with this. We didn't even win Euro 96.

I'm sure Gazza would like to see a lot of things. Phil Foden is 21 going into his first major competition if he wants to emulate his heroes in what ever way then.. fair play to him.
Any mention of England's 'golden generation' or anything like that means absolutely naff all. they didn't win anything. these lads have the chance in the next couple of weeks to become legends and blow all the other names out of the water.

Euro96 Gazza was a shadow of the player he was in 1990-91.
If he'd not f'ed his knee we would've won Euro92 & World Cup 94 and Graham Taylor would've been the greatest England manager ever.
