Is it not time to see an end to 0.9 of a penny none of us are under any illusions that 107.9 at 30 litres makes a saving of 3 pence over a total cost of £32.40 if it was priced up at 108 per litre?
There is no unit of 0.1 of a penny in our monetary system so they cannot give change in 0.1 units therefore it is wrong.
Also we are not that daft to think £2.99 is much better value than £3.00 .

Make it to the nearest pound. £1.00 a litre sounds even better.

I was once told things were priced at 99 pence or 95 pence etc so the till had to be opened for a penny or 5 pence change etc to stop the till operator putting the proceeds directly in their pockets!

That's not true Red_tiff, I worked in retail for a few years and the older tills open regardless of whether change needs to be given or not.

It’s purely because the extra amount per litre/ gallon adds up over massive volumes and regardless of what people say, £9.99 looks less than £10, so it has a mental aspect to it. It started In America.
