Pep Guardiola Announces He Will Leave City After Next Season

Guaranteed there'll be fans saying "wouldn't have him" etc. but if we could get him as England manager surely we'd be crazy not to.

Worked with and seems to rate a lot of English players compared to earlier in his career. Although I imagine the Spain job would be a clear first choice, maybe not with him being Catalonian though! Who knows?

Wonder if he'll go before?
When people announce a leaving date they sometimes end up going before that date
Is Southgate contracted till the end of World Cup 2022 or Euro 2024?

If Southgate goes at the end of Euro 2024 and Pep leaves City in May 2023, takes a year out of football then that would be perfect timing.

Regardless of which team he joins, he's sure to improve them. Would love it to be England but might fancy a country he's not previously managed in? France? Portugal?

Stick him in charge of USA for the 2026 World Cup? :D

Bit odd, how will he sell players on joining his "project" if he has plans to leave at the end of the season.

IIRC Ferguson had issues at Man U in 2000ish when he said he'd retire at the end of the season, they couldn't recruit & performances were so bad he cancelled it.

He so always does this and unlike others he tends to stick to it as well look at his New York hiatus after he left Barca.

he’s very intense pep and I think he can only be this invested for so long.

I like him but hope he never wins champs league with city. No glory in winning something with billions spent achieving it. The guy has had it cushty all his managerial career with money no object. Also dont want him managing england either.

I hope he wins the Champs League. His football philosophy is top class. He may have had money but you still have to spend it in the right areas and mould a team capable of winning trophies.

IMHO he saved the game in this country from going full Mourinho. He showed us that you can win by playing good football when the issue at the time was all about mass defending and eking out a one nil win.
