People on here with an agenda

I don't think it's an agenda, some people are just naturally pessimistic - in my view it's a coping mechanism to avoid disappointment - I notice the same people pop up on the cricket threads when England lose an early wicket and suddenly it's oh no collapse coming here, he's rubbish etc.
Yes, this. I’ve definitely expected the worst as a coping mechanism. Always feel happy when wrong though, so it’s not terminal pessimism

This last line is the truest thing I've ever read. In the mid "noughties" (sorry I hate that phrase bit it's a useful shorthand) I used to go and see Barcelona play a lot. One game I was sat in front of someone who spent the entire game slagging Ronaldinho off. As someone who has seen Richard Liburd play for his team, it seemed a bit extreme but some people just are never happy.
Loved Liburd, ayresome legend

To be fair I used to enjoy watching Liburd play, he seemed to have elastic limbs. I just meant he didn’t seem to be on quite the same level as Ronaldinho

The thread title made me think this has to be politics related. Because its obvious there are some here that are only interested in pushing a political agenda without mush interest in anything football related.
But lo and behold it isn't.

Have a couple of threads merged together here?
Where does the resting of players for cup matches fit in?
Not sure about the football commentator Saville rant either.
My head hurts.

It's the glass-half-empty traditional Boro philosophy. "Typical Boro. Always let you down! "
It seems almost as old as the club itself. That an the feeling of injustice. Shame we can't spin it into more of a siege mentality - all in it together. I'm sure it is noticed by the players and possibly puts the odd potential signing off.

I quite liked Richard Liburd

Me too. I've seen his name mentioned on here a few times as an awful player, but we've had far worse.

Yes, when he first broke through into the first team he was greener than a map of the Amazon rainforest (particularly in terms of positional play), but he was enthusiastic and tried his best.
