Pedantry

I will name and shame the Mother Shipton Inn in Knaresborough who have a pie on the menu but last time I was there it was actually a steamed pudding...

In their defence, it says "Pie of the Day". When you asked what it was, I heard them say, "well today its actually steak & kidney pudding sir".

A stew with a lid is very close to doing down that dangerous road of a hot pot from the dark side.

I have been known to make pies with a shortcrust base/sides (for stability & form) with a puff pastry top.

You weren't there man.

I often have nightmares where Im having a beer in a nice pub that advertises pie of the day, then Darth Vader turns up with a stew with a lid uttering the words "Hotpot Ken?" in Betty Turpin's voice.
