Pears set to leave..

Looks like we are offering him about.

Sooner we sign a no 1 the better. Stoj is a good nr 2 though. Pears I just don’t see it with him I am afraid. Sure he will get a club and forge a decent career for himself at league 1 or 2 level

Reading between the lines I think we rate Sol Brynn pretty highly. I personally wouldn't give up on Pears yet, we do tend to discard our keepers relatively young. It's rarer for keepers to establish themselves as number 1s until their mid to late 20s these days

I think we'll see Meijas released before too long and Pears will be sold to someone like Blackburn. He decent enough as a back up but we do need a proper number 1.

I'd go for John Ruddy at Wolves, if he wants some game time before he retires, although he is only 33, which isn't that old for a keeper.

Agree re Sol Brynn though. I think he's highly rated we'll see him as number 3 this season, maybe on the bench in the odd game and cup games.

Ruddy has links to the area aswell, think his wife is from here. My cousin went to his wedding as he knows her.

I have never been a fan and have said so, not commanding enough and a little dodgy on crosses for me, but he is a kid still learning his trade. He was thrust into the first team too soon, like Turnbull was years ago, I think thats why they punted Stojanovic. Pears would benefit going on loan for experience, but if he is saleable and we need the money fair do’s. We do need a composed keeper with more attributes than Stojanovic, but as implied above he is a fair number 2 (no pun meant)

Both keepers so far haven't filled me with confidence.

Stoj on Friday evening wasn't exactly great at crosses again.

We were without doubt blessed and spoilt with Randolph in this division.

I rate Pears over Stojanovic.

You can't write a keeper off at 22 and considering he has been through the academy deserves more time to show his maturity... I can't imagine he is on big wages.

We need a keeper asap imho, Dejan is the worst keeper Ive seen play for the Boro(thought he was taking a fit for their 2nd goal weirdest thing Ive seen from a keeper). If he gets rid of Pears he has to have back up. I dont blame Pears, he wants to play regular and needs experience, its his best bet is leaving.

Think they'll try and come to an agreement with Mejias and release him - as Brynn is clearly ahead of him in the pecking order

I'd loan Pears if we get a new first choice

I've never been convinced by Stojanovic though, and would probably prefer Pears as 2nd choice, in the hope that he improves - and Brynn comes through to compete too

He only has a year left on his deal. If we aren’t planning on offering him a new contract or if he has turned down a new deal then we are best getting a fee for him while we can. Certainly looks that one of them is the case if we are offering him around. I see Stoj as more a no 2 than Pears but all about opnions

Agree with that.
Pears is already on his one year extension, so I see this as an attempt to get a small fee.

Warnock did make a comment about players on the final year of their contract..

I can see Mowbray going in for Pears.. they are also linked with Philips from Wigan. Interesting to see how that turns out seen as Warno has distanced himself from a deal.

Am very disappointed that a young keeper that seemed to have real potential will be on his way.
I thought he looked very commanding through so many games last season after winning his place on merit through pre season.

I'd have loaned him out but pointless if he won't sign a long term contract.

Meijas won't be missed, it was strange to bring him back in the first place.
